The ViewLondon Review
The Cellar is a classy underground wine bar with a wonderful choice of wines matched with an equally chic atmosphere that keeps the stylish crowd happy. The VenueDown a harsh, industrial staircase you’ll be met with a modern, elegant bar with earthy tones of brown and red creating a sexy mood. Dark, low red lampshades over comfy brown leather booths are effortlessly decadent, as are the high tables that have an element of privacy. The small, cosy space is well thought out as there’s plenty of seating yet still space to stand and mingle with sophisticated London workers. A private room at The Cellar is also offered for a private party that your guests will remember as something a bit different.
The AtmospherePerched on every stool of The Cellar is a relaxed, cool Londoner who appreciates good wine, therefore a mixture of ages come here, but all with the same chic vibe. The easy jazz oozes out of the speakers and adds a mellow note to the ambience, and as the night progresses and the wine bottle are opened, an extremely chilled sense of ease falls over the ever so slightly tipsy clientele. The warm, friendly staff add to the sociable atmosphere, making any and all feel welcome - especially helping those who know very little about wine.
The DrinkComing to a wine bar you’d expect a decent wine list, and The Cellar delivers just that. Separated into grape and region, there are pages and pages of detailed information about each type of wine to make any wine buff’s mouth water. Most of the prices are affordable, but as they get pricey the quality is definitely worth it. To match, simple elegant food is served during the day with pub grub touches that add a hearty oomph to the menu.
The Last WordThis lovely, intimate wine bar is great for a few drinks after work that easily spans into a refined evening drinking wonderful wine.
