Worst value for money I think Ihave ever seen! The food is an absolute rip off. Poor quality and very little of it for a large price tag. My partner had the fish pie and it was basically a bowl with mash potato in it and a few tiny bits of bad fish. Not even any pastry! I will never ever go here again. Its an embarrasment to the area!

We returned to the Commander after enjoying the last couple of times we had been. Unfortunately though this time we were met with really slow service and rude bar staff, dissapointing as it is otherwise a great little bar.

I was shocked by the poor, rude service I experienced at the hands of the staff of the Commander last night: I would not recommend this pub to anyone.

A gentle, decent, softly spoken member of our party, who knew very few of us, was unfortunate enough to stumble into a private party before he located us (he was completely sober and relaxed having come from a cricket match): he was rudely and aggressively ejected from the room by an unnecessarily defensive group of people and a member of bar staff: anyone would think he had walked in there blind drunk with a knife or that he'd walked in on some masonic sect meeting. Weird.

The other clientele were exceedingly rude (they swore at him), which could have been improved if the bar staff had been okay but they weren't. I had already been tutted at, so the behaviour of the second member of staff took the biscuit: the place had such bad vibes it gave me the creeps: we left.

The beer tasted like it had come from dirty pipes: it's absolutely a style over substance kind of place.

Honestly - if you like decent, human beings, don't go to this pub. I'm disappointed by my fellow human beings today - let alone the poor beer.

The Commander could be a great venue - however we had a bad experience. Waiting staff were lovely, however, as a big group we ordered a lot of food (spending a lot of money) - over half of us had the burger. We were all asked how we liked it cooked - pointless - they all came burnt to a crisp, almost cracked my tooth.

Also, a friend had a party at The Commander and they charged service charge as part of booking and then service charge was added to every bill. Also the manager was very rude!

The Commander is a great venue for a relaxed drink and bite to eat with friends, especially the quiet garden at the back. Service was prompt and friendly. I will definitely return to The Commander.

Very Impressed with The Commander! We stopped in after work to enjoy a quick bite and a drink and ended up on the Cocktails and shared plates. Thought tThe Commander was a great pub, chilled out and with a great atmosphere. Will definitely be back.

The Commander is a nice pub, with good food and great staff. The only thing I' m not sure about is the area. I'm not too keen on Bayswater. However, I am willing to forgive The Commander it's bad location.
