The ViewLondon Review
Rum, cigars and seafood. It’s a good life at The Cuban in Clapham. The VenueCommunist chic, The Cuban has been designed to look worn with its streaky blue painted doors and window frames and faux torn wallpaper revealing a faux brick wall. The bar is immediately in front of you as you walk in and stretches the length of the venue, stocked with spirit after spirit it's an obligatory homage to Che Guevara.
The AtmosphereA buzzing South London hotspot that is alive with a young, fun and energetic crowd. Bright and cheery, The Cuban is popular throughout the year with Clapham locals and their friends. In summer, don't be surprised to see the crowd spilling out onto the pavement.
The FoodAn enticing mix of seafood, salads, meats and tapas are bound to give your tastebuds a Cuban kick. The king prawns with lime and chilli are beautifully juicy however, the paella borders more on a risotto, a regional variation which paella purists will love. Tapas cost about £5.00 per dish, mains are just over £10.00. The food is good quality but is somewhat overpriced for the size of the portions.
The DrinkBe it sweet lolly water or a stiff tipple with bite, you’ll find the perfect poison with over 60 divine cocktails to sample. A chapter dedicated to Cuban rums will catch your eye whilst the list continues with Champagne cocktails, high rollers and classic options. Try the Apple Crumble if you prefer drinking your dessert. For those who prefer to sip on a cerveza, Peroni, Kronenbourg, Corona, Becks and San Miguel are all available.
The Last WordA fun, vibrant bar with oh-so-good cocktails. Get caught up in the Clapham revolution.
