Worse pub food we have ever had and hideously overpriced!!
Having phoned around all the Gastro pubs in the Kentish Town area, The Dartmouth Arms was the only restaurant available for dinner on Saturday night, so we gave it a try. What a disappointment. It was completely empty when we arrived and I can see why. Philip's starter of mussels was rubbery and tasteless. My starter of pate was in a jar, obviously bought in a supermarket, with a very unappetizing layer of fat on the top, it was quite disgusting to eat. Philip's main course, sausages and mash, was equally unappetizing; the mash potato was horrible. I ordered the duck as a main, it was a starter as well. I suppose I was expecting a cooked duck, but it was just a duck salad with a few extra cheap lettuce leaves and revolting orange segments to make it a main. I did tell the waitress that for £12.50 it was a very mean portion, and they gave me a more strips of duck. I would have thought that being the only customers in the restaurant and the fact that we had told the waitress we were very disappointed, the chef could have at least apologized or maybe offered a token drink or coffee.
Having said all this the atmosphere and layout was very pleasant and the drinkers were enjoying themselves in front of the blazing coal fire and Sky TV - it was only when we went into the empty back part that everything fell apart!!

Had a cracking night at The Dartmouth Arms. Ordered 2 of their burgers and 2 pints of Vedett and was told by the girl (sorry, forgot your name, but I'll be back...) they were doing a deal and it was only £15! She put my beers into FROZEN pint glasses and brought me 2 HUGE burgers.Sat by a real log fire and watched live football quietly in the corner. What more could i want! The Southampton is a bit cheaper, but not nearly as nice i recon.
Came on Friday night for some food. The pub had real log fires burning and was very welcoming. The menu is HUGE, we went for some tapas for starters and the steak and fish pie. Couldn't fit desert. Very reasonably priced. A nice alternative to the over crowded Southampton. We will be coming back!
Terrible service. C ould not get our order right.
We ordered 2 veggie sunday lunches and after waiting for an hour we were told that they'd forgotten to put the order through to the kitchen. When they eventually brought the food one of the meals was roast beef. At this point we left hungry and disappointed.
We have eaten here before and the service is always really slow.
We will not be going back, shame as the food is really nice.
Have only been to the Dartmouth Arms once but really liked it. I found there was a good mix of people and the atmosphere was good. The Dartmouth Arms could do to improve their beer selection.
