It makes me mad that there is a general assumption that because this place belongs to an uber-chef it is any good.

Been here twice, the second time in the hope that things might have improved!

Boring brown decor; too few seats in the bar; ok menu, poorly executed (had to ask for some gravy to go in the steak pie as it was bone dry!); indifferent service; situated at the Hogarth roundabout end of Devonshore Road not the trendy High Street section where La Trompette is.

There are so many other great gastro pubs & bars in Chiswick, da Bush, Hammersmith and Barnes that this doesn't even come close to top 25 in that area. Try The Brown Dog in Barnes, the soon to open Copper Cow in Grove Park, the Roebuck, the Raven, the Duke of Sussex, the Stonemason's Arms, the Anglesea Arms, the Thatched House, Sam's... I could go on but I recon you've got the message.

Come on Gordon, prove me wrong!

I have to agree with your review. Today I went back for the second time in the hope it had got better. My starter took 30 mins to come,
(a slice of pate) and when my main meal came it was cold. I complained ,waited for another 30 mins. In the mean time my partner ate his lunch so it would not go cold. The next plate of lunch arrived and it was only a little better heat wise. I was so fed up I just wanted to get up and leave.
Only one member of staff showed any sort of concern and told us on the quiet he would have made a lot more noise had it been him. I will not give it one star, and will not be going back. What a waste of £75. - Report
