Not sure where previous reviewers have been, buts it not the Dog and Fox I know. I always go there expecting it to be busy and pleasantly surprised that i get served quickly and a table comes available sooner rather than later. I like a burger in the bar and find the staff on the ball. I'm booked in for my birthday next month and they are happy to organise a table in the restaurant and aspace in the bar for a few beers after. bizarrely it shuts at 11pm!

Service is good with nice decor in the restaurant, but central London is always cheaper than gastro-pub in the suburbs these days...and the food better.

Sunday roasts are very expensive and not uo to scratch...at all! Maybe for the Wimbledon Village crowd with more money than sense but overall pretty appalling. Roast beef came with 2 measly thin slices which must have come from Sainsbury's supermarket counter the day before. Also from the day before were the potatoes. They were so hard (reheated) they could have been used on the putting green just around the corner.

The rest of the menu is competent in as much as you'd expect, but with so many 'gastro pubs' employing inexperienced chefs (because they are cheaper to employ I'm sure), they should be charging less. Unfortunately they often charge more than some of the best restaurants in London.

We used the Dog and Fox for a dinner with about 45 people attending. The service was extremely slow, with us having pre-ordered food to start from 7.30, but after sitting down on time had to wait until 8.45pm for starters (which were mostly cold dishes), and 9.30pm for the main course. The main courses arrived rather cold and not very exciting, and the on duty manager did not care at all that we had to wait so long for the food. For what we got, it was very overpriced, and appeared to just be trying to spin out the food waiting for us to drink more. So don't use for large groups.

this place is not good, not good at all. very expensive, but they get away with it becasue the general clientele has more money than sense. the beer, for the amount it costs, seems like its not kept particularly well as the lager is flat. i think they are concentrating more on the restuarant side of things, as it is more profitable, since it is hideously overpriced for basic pub grub.

service from the bar isnt bad, i felt the need to tip the friendly lads and lasses behind the bar, as i witnessed them having to put up with some incredibly foul, rude and pretentious rich people at the bar with ludicrous requests, as if they were in a 5 star hotel. these guys are on minimum wage, yet a pint isnt far off what they earn for an hour of hard work and toil.

the pint glasses are filthy, and toilets even worse. sundays are definitely best avoided, its a cattle market full, i mean FULL, of prams, buggies, crying infants and dogs. oh and posh obnoxious people wondering where their £13 roast dinner is, despite only ordering it 10 minutes ago.

if you are rich and hungry, come here and get ripped off, you'll love it. if you are a traditional drinker, steer WELL clear, your really not that welcome is the impression i got.

if your aiming to come here for a drinks party, you'll leave £100 lighter, and watch out for the sneaky trick they do with shots (jaeger/sambuca/tequila) you are charged for a shot of 35ml, yet the shot glasses are only 25ml, so you are getting cheated each time. both illegal and out of order.

you have been warned

We had Christmas lunch here and found the whole experience excellent. The food was first class, particularly the fillet of beef. Our waiter was Matt who was friendly and attentive throughout the whole of our stay. The Dog & Fox team should be congratulated for providing such an enjoyable lunch.

its a pity the staff were forced to work on christmas day (only being informed 5 days prior, and told if we didnt turn up we would get sacked) and only paid minimum wage, whilst the manager kept the massive tips generated from customers, who were paying well over the odds.

The worst christmas dinner ever! Awful and sad! I paid the xmas eve dinner deposit personally at the bar 2 weeks before. But as they are really poor organized our food could not be served once we got there. They said that they could not find my booking but they could find that I paid the deposit? What a joke? The Dog and Fox management didn’t apologize for it. They were so unwell prepared that they didn’t know what to do or even to apologize. We decided to order any other food from the menu. We ordered a bottle of wine to start and after 20 minutes they brought a bottle and placed it in our table without open. For 15 minutes we were waiving to the waiter to open the bottle. Nobody came…therefore we decided to live and go to another restaurant that luckily we manage to find! Customer Service = 0, Organization = 0, Education = 0not recommended at all

Since I live in Wimbledon, I visit the Dog & Fox around twice a month. On Friday and Saturday evenings there is generally a great vibe in the bar and I enjoyed a cosy dinner in the restaurant more than once.

I decided to host my 30th birthday party here last Friday. Around 40 of us started off with drinks in the bar, then we moved to a private room near the restaurant for a buffet and we finished with some more drinks in the bar. The service was very quick and friendly and the we had good food in good quantities. I would definitely host my parties here again!

The dog and fox is a good pub and a very average restaurant. I advise NOT to eat at the restaurant if you do not want to be disappointed.

I ordered the Cote de Boef and at £29.75, I was expecting something a little special. I was presented with a lukewarm sad looking piece of meat filled with gristle and fat.

This was definitely not a case of “you get what you pay for”.

I strongly agree with the last comment...

Went to the dog and fox on sunday night for the pub quiz and i had a great time. Service at the bar was speedy even at busy times and the wine menu was very extensive.

It might be a little pricey but it's way worth it- lovely people-lovely place and a huge choice of beers and wines.

Nearly a whole year since the last review and thought I would bring people up to date. Went for a Sunday meal at 3.30pm (hard to do in many pubs) and we were quickly seated. The waiter was pleasant, attentive and arrived with a drink very promptly. I decided to order the Roast Beef and it was exceptional. Honestly the best sunday roast I have had at a restaurant for years. For £12 it was well worth it - two huge slabs of topside, parsnips, beans, turnip, roast potatoes, cream of horseradish (homemade) and a delicious Yorkshire pud. My wife had fish and chips which was also well worth the money - and brilliantly cooked. The only downside was it was a little noisy due to it being full of people having a good time - can not be a bad thing really. I would recommend this place to anyone, good price, good food and great location. 8/10 (or 4 from 5)

The food at The Dog and Fox was okay, though nothing special. But the service at The Dog and Fox was lousy, with the exception of one poor waiter who did his best to placate us.

I took my daughter to the Dog and Fox for her birthday and to be honest I regretted it slightly. The food was a bit disappointing and it cost me more than I was expecting.

I can't complain about the service but if you've got a special occasion coming up I think you can probably do better than the Dog and Fox.

The Dog and Fox are cunning little devils who ensured that we were the ones open mouthed and panting whilst we eagerly awaited the wonderful food and drink that we had sniffed on arrival. When it did come, our greedy snouts were very pleasantly satisfied, with the slobbery proof in what remained of our pudding.

We finished our lovely afternoon by curling up in front the fire and intermittently chasing cats out of the Dog and Fox front door.
