Annoyed about this pub. Looked nice and inviting from the outside but the staff didn't seem to understand how to run a pub. Misunderstanding my straightforward order of a pint each of two different ales (there were two of us standing at an empty bar), bar maid proceeds to pour two of each (for our invisible friends? why not just clarify?). Probably distracted by the conversation she was having with her colleague.

We try to find a nice cosy seat near the fire, but all tables at the back of the pub are reserved for dining. It's 5pm on a Sunday, no-one's eating, but quite a few people are being turned away from the 'dining' area. Eventually we're allowed to sit at a small square table - we rebel and take a sofa seat. No-one complains. Nor is the pub suddenly deluged by people wanting to eat and needing our table. Not a flexible attitude for a pub.

Finally, an hour after leaving, I find I have been short changed by a tenner. I should have noticed at the time, but I don't usually pay with a £20 note and I was so annoyed about the distracted bar maid that I took my coins and went to find a seat. The landlord was sitting right by me at the bar, maybe he should have noticed. But he seemed too busy flirting with the staff.

Yes the pub has decent ale, scrabble and a fire, but it has the wrong attitude at heart where the convenience of the pub comes before the customer and for that reason, I shall take my custom elsewhere.
