Having seen the terrible service and lack of atmosphere this pub had a couple of years ago, we were very hopeful when it went under new management. Unfortunately, the lack of atmosphere remains, the play three CD's on repeat and despite being a regular, you are still treated as the most average customer. Good burgers though.

I had my 21st birthday party at the Duchess last Saturday! I hired out the room upstairs!

The prices in terms of venue hire/food/drinks etc were all exceptionally reasonable!

The food was really good and I also got a complimentary bottle of champagne!

Andy was attentive from beginning to end and made sure everything ran smoothly from opening hours, the DJ etc...

The bar staff were great, so friendly and everyone at the party commented on one particular member of staff Zoe - I had young children at the party which she was great with!

I would definitely recommend the duchess as a place to have a drink and a place to hold a very important party at!

Thanks again to Andy and the team for all that you did!

Fat beardy bloke at the bar, when you have 5 customers waiting, emptying the glass washer is the lowest of your priorities! Absolute piss take!

It was a pleasure to spent a few hours at this fantastic place. We were in the area taking pictures of the power plant for a TV special on Pink Floyd. The service was outstanding ( the barman ). I wish I can go back soon to London and make a special stop at this wonderful pub.

I highly recommend the Duchess as a fantastic place for a party or event. It was absolutely perfect for my 30th in March. Andy arranged for us to have the whole downstairs area for the party and it was perfect - at night the view to Battersea power station with the pub's fairy lights twinkling was fabulous. We ordered party platters which were great - very generous servings and good quality. A bar tab and pre-booked sparkling wine were organised without a hitch. Andy and the staff organised the service of the food to suit what I wanted and were extremely friendly, flexible and helpful, from booking to when we (eventually) left on the night. Everyone had a great time and a agreed the venue was a great little find! Alicia.

I was recently returning from a trip into central London looking around the brilliant galleries. I drove back through Battersea on my way home because I wanted to catch sight of the iconic Power Station.

After gasping at such a structure I decided to go and check out the lunch menu at The Duchess.I'm a powered wheelchair user and The Duchess had been recommended to me by friends.

Usually such cool establishments seem to overlook any kind of inclusive measures within the capital. Not so here. From the moment I arrived I was made to feel most welcome by the staff and regulars.

The large front windows look out onto the massive structure of the Power Station. My lunch arrived in good time and my needs, as someone with a disability, were well catered for. The food was fresh, hot and tasted wonderful.

I sat by the windows there enjoying the atmosphere of a warm and friendly establishment within this fantastic retro pop interior.

Every last detail of the place seems to have been carefully considered and the more your eyes travel around the bar the more delights you uncover.

Usually disabled toilets in bars are institutional generic white cubes which are an after thought by the managment. Not so with this place.

All the fittings and finishes were as great as the main bar itself.I left the place sometime, much later, feeling that a simple early afternoon lunch had been transformed into an event. Something that everyone should try. Disabled or not.Why on earth aren't there more places like this???

I can't believe I've lived up the road for years and just found this place! It's uber-different!!

Fake moose head and all! Great garden, freehouse I think, had local ales - loads of spirits for the connoseurs but not bad prices.

No tv which is a shame. Very friendly customers and staff, have some mad nights from the photos by the door!!

I hired the upstairs room for a party which looked really nice when i went to visit the first time.

I booked the venue months in advance only to get a phone call a week before the event to be told that they had double booked the room but they would clear the room in time for our party.

We arrived to find the room had empty glasses everywhere and our privitate bar not open due to the barmaid still clearing up and collecting glasses.

We complained and 30 mins later the bar was still not open as there was no glasses upstairs or drinks.

This place is a Joke!! A friend of mine hired out this venue for her birthday, she booked it almost 3 months ago and it was a nightmare from the start.

They took my friends deposit for the venue and promised her she can have the venue from 5pm but unknown to her they had another party in there before her party finishing at 4.30. her party was starting at 5pm

When we got there at 5pm they were massively understaffed for the size of the venue. The room up stairs had not been cleaned, there was glass all over the floor, fag butts all over the terrace, the upstairs bar was not open and no member of staff that we could even talk to about this

The upstairs bar was not opened to an hour after our party started, it took us over half an hour to get a drink from the down stairs bar while we waited for the upstairs bar to open. When this bar opened there was no ice.

As the night went on, and as they had no security at all in the bar and a manager who truly does not know how to run a bar, we repeatedly had people coming upstairs trying to join the party and sitting out on the terrace.

This place is a complete joke. After reading a review we decided to go down on Sunday afternoon for lunch and a drink.

The service is just non-existent the guy behind the bar... how can owners allow people to dress like that when they are at work.

We asked for our money back and left not a manager or apology in site. This place as i said is a joke unfortunately for them one of the people with me works for a company very close by that employ around 100 people and go out regularly as a group.

Don't hold your breath for them to be coming to this venue though.

When arriving at The Duchess i was very impressed fantastic location and celeb spotting was an added bonus.

i was there with friends for a party in the beautiful upstairs room . that's all the good i can say about it . the room that was boOKed months ago had been hired out in the week , they assured my friend that everything would be ok !!!

we had to wait over an hour due to the fact that the room was in a mess , empty glasses left every where and the private bar was closed , management skill not very good ,

also when waiting for a drink in the very small main bar which was cluttered with more empty used glasses , we was stood for over 20 minutes .

with regards to the bar staff , they was slow and over worked to the point that there was not enough of them to cope !!!!! as i have worked in very busy pubs i no how hard it is but they did not grab the concept of serving the customer comes before chatting to customers / colleagues .

There is so much more to say about this pub but none of it is good .

Simply Delicious from the moment my stiletto clad toe touched the chic boutique wooden floor until the moment I (almost literally) licked the remains of my gravy and yorkshire pud off my plate. The staff are friendly and chatty whilst being unobtrusive and efficient. Which probably comes from serving and chatting with the many celebs that so casually pop in from time to time..

Jason Flemying from Lock stock, Stardust, Benjamin button etc is apparently a regular and a part owner and used to host the pub quiz there!!The Decor is Beautifully Sumptuous and decadant and I half expected to see some smoking jacket clad gentleman leading a hollywood starlet in some kind of fairytale waltz around the upstairs function room and out onto the terrace that provides the best view of Battersea Power station I've ever born witness to.

Anyway..fairytales aside, the food is top notch, expecially for those of a Sunday lunch persuasion, the atmosphere is relaxed and cosy and the staff are real characters.Probably why it's a local of sorts for me, even though I live in the far outer reaches of North London.I heartily recommend a visit. Once experienced, never forgotten.

T'was a breezy but gloriously sunny afternoon when the hip young kids from across the railtracks took a stroll down by the power station in search of a pint thus avoiding the hip young cool kid bars that plague their neck of the woods. The lure of the roof terrace and it's hypnotic views of the old four chimneyed girl across the way were the purpose of their visit that and the crisp pear cider that Aspalls do so well.It was a warm welcome that greeted the eager explorers, the drinks were orderd and after admiring the effortlessly eclectic boutique chic that characterises the friendly and still very local throw cushioned bar they made their way upstairs pausing only to make a mental note to sample one of the live music nights being promoted.Once upstairs the would-be sun worshippers made their way across the tastefully ornamented function room catching the first glimpse of their desired drinking landscape.About to set foot on the generously sized terrace they were abruptly halted and informed that a 'private party' was in progress.Slightly perplexed as there had been no indication of a private party taking place they were further informed that the "girlfriend of the owner" was hosting this private ensemble and was in no mood to share the ample span of the terrace which would have easily accommodated both small parties. With the sun still burning bright the disappointed worshippers trudged back downstairs somewhat bemused by their denied access to the roof terrace.Fortunately for the resolute drinkers The Duchess was furnished with a rather large and private rear garden open to all.It was with renewed vigour that they made their way under the sunshades and past the flourishing foliage to the Blue Peter garden seat at the back.A slither of sunshine, serenity and charming conversation with some regulars made up for their earlier rebuff and in some ways reassured them to make a return visit. The morale of this tale fellow drinkers?...Beware the 'private party'. 7/10
