Went to the Eagle for a Sunday roast - we booked a table in the restaurant and were told we had to come at 3.30. When we arrived we were told the kitchen was closed but if we hurried up then we might be able to get something. Very rude staff, utterly dissapointing food. If you like being treated like a mug on your weekends, delivered bad undercooked food and charged a fortune by rude staff then this place is for you. If, like me, you prefer being treated like a human then don't go to The Eagle.

i went to the Eagle last sunday for a roast, was really looking forward to it as reviews online were good. arrived and were seated, very hard to order food as the staff were constantly talking and oblivious to to customers. food arrived and was small, vegetables were very undercooked and there was no gravy, after asking and waiting 20 minutes the gravy arrived, and was given to us very rudely. its a nice looking pub, but terrible rude service and the food doesn't back it up either. real shame.

I've been drinking here since it's revamp from stinky dirty boozer to stuck up tarted up boozer.

OK.... so the foods over priced.

The beer garden in good weather waaaay too busy.

The staff has gone from a few cool, funny ones to basically all rude horrible ones.

In short I don't bother with The Eagle anymore. It's trying to be something it's not. Far better pubs in the area to spend my money in with much more enjoyable ambience's and friendlier staff... Oh and far, far, far cheaper drinks.

See ya Eagle!

I drink in this pub with my boyfriend and friends once or twice a week since I moved to the area in January and I must say I'm surprised by the review by purdy. I agree it's not the cheapest but I've found all the staff to be very friendly and they've never been rude and the ambience is usually great and everyone's generally chilled.

I have to say it has dropped off slightly since it first opened but overall its a brilliant local pub. Staff have always been great, although the manager is a bot flaky at the moment. All in all I love this place.

Last night is the first time I’ve visited this place since it’s refurbishment four months ago.

It’s still a classic boozer, yet it now has a modern twist with an eclectic mix of classic pub and contemporary furnishings. The stylish interior – in rich shades of green and brown – is kitted out in a combination of low-level sofas, upholstered armchairs and wooden stools, which create a soothing lounge feel, enhanced by soft spotlights and candles.

White leather banquettes – tastefully lit by shimmering glass chandeliers – and multi-coloured rugs are the ultimate in retro kitsch, topped off by the highly-coveted Space Invaders machine which must surely take pride of place alongside the pub’s stuffed Eagle.

The biggest difference I noticed about the pub however was its revamped terrace area at the rear – complete with magnificent cast iron railings and giant Victorian lanterns. Enclosed by original brickwork walls, the large garden boasts flowerbeds and a mixture of mature trees, while strings of fairy lights, coloured lamps and candles lend real atmosphere.

Finally, the food is worth noting. The open-plan kitchen serves a variety of great dishes. I ordered the light Red Mullet with Sun-dried Tomatoes, Pesto and Parmesan on Roast Vegetables, washed down with a pint of Erdinger – simply fantastic!

The Eagle has a lovely outdoor garden for a summer's evening. Hopelessly short staffed though and out of stock of half of their menu. Long waits at the bar and the food was disappointing. Nice venue but they are letting themselves down badly on service and standards.

Fantastic venue for good outdoor pubbing. stunning large garden - short staffed on a Tuesday evening visit meant not such great food and a long wait at the bar to get served. Child friendly / rugs supplied to sit on grass. Dark decor inside - basic yet effective. It works - try it.
