A treasured local secret, The Easton is probably not a place you would normally go unless you knew it was there.

The Venue
As you arrive at the front door of this unassuming pub, a sign on the window politely asks you to show consideration for the neighbors and leave quietly. That's because The Easton can be found on a leafy street, surrounded on two sides by quiet flats. There is no seating outdoors and it's only the rare smoker who pops out for a sneaky cigarette before quickly ducking back inside.

The Easton has a spacious and dark interior, with large booths along the walls and tables in between. The wallpapered walls are adorned with various sized black and white photos that are definitely worth a second look. Although the run down furniture is a bit sore on the eyes by conventional standards, the locals who frequent this pub don't seem to mind.

The Atmosphere
The Easton caters to a young, professional, and somewhat artsy crowd who work or live around the area. The layout and empty space between tables means this isn't really the type of place to meet new people, but a place for you and your mates to have a good time in amongst yourselves. The bartenders have a reputation for keeping to themselves and would probably rather read a magazine than chat with guests.

All this doesn't mean there’s a bad atmosphere, it just means that you'll probably have to create your own.

The Food
What The Eason lacks in furnishings and service, it more than makes up for in food. The menu only changes slightly and this is because they stick to what they do well. If you eat meat you're in luck, because the steak, lamb, pork and chicken found here are far superior to what you’d find at most other pubs, and all at reasonable prices. The same goes for the Sunday roast.

Be sure to save room for dessert and try the freshly made fruit crumble, which is usually on the menu. Hint: Since it's made to order, ask for the crumble at the same time as the rest of your food to avoid waiting between courses.

The Drink
The bar is stocked with a small, but well chosen selection of beer and wine to complement your meal.

The Last Word
A top notch restaurant disguised as a pub, if you're looking for a great meal, then The Easton is a great choice.
