Visited Fat Deli with my daughter and grand-daughter today - wonderful atmosphere, background music and mostly friendly staff - except the owner who was rather surly and reluctantly had to reduce the price of something I had ordered because two prices were displayed for the same item. Don't know if it's because of that, but when we requested a cup of hot water for the baby (to rinse her spoon) we were charged 8p. Perhaps though he does not really want babies there are there was a only single high chair available.

The Fat Deli does brilliant food from a fantastic down to earth chef. Great relaxed atmosphere, it's becoming a favourite for all our friends. Check out the youtube film about it.

The Fat Delicatessen is such a lovely place and the tapas is exceptional. If you're looking for somewhere after your meal then don't look too far as this place is equally good for some drinks too. Go on, try The Fat Delicatessen. You won't be disappointed.

I must admit I hadn't been to Balham for a number of years and it hasn't really changed. Except for the introduction of places like The Fat Delicatessen. I wouldn't have imagined that there was a market in Balham for places like this but clearly there is as the place was heaving! My daughter ordered us some nibbles which I think were Spanish or Italian - whatever they were they were lovely but a little bit poncey for me. Give me pie and mash anyday. If The Fat Delicatessen did that, then it would have got five stars!
