The ViewLondon Review
The Fine Line is a peaceful oasis nestled quietly in the heart of the city. Somehow, this modern venue fits perfectly into the quaint little world that is Bow Churchyard. The VenueComplimentary to its location, The Fine Line is modern and refreshing whilst retaining an air of subtlety. Located in the idyllic tree lined Bow Churchyard, this welcoming bar is best accessed from the quaint Bow Lane with its collection of charming, quirky shops quietly trading beneath a blanket of twinkling fairy lights.
Inside, the decor is finished to a high standard with fresh creams and rustic reds complimenting the rich wooden bar that seductively curves down one side of the venue. Tall, comfortable stools align the bar whilst a selection of sizeable booths, comfy cream sofas, and varying sized wooden tables and chairs make up the rest of the furnishings, utilising the large space well.
The AtmosphereSoft lighting and mellifluous music help to establish a relaxed and subdued ambience, which is in keeping with the tranquil vibe that the surrounding neighbourhood generates. The clientele consists of office workers escaping from the surrounding concrete towers that loom above the serene little faux village, seeking a welcome break from busy city life.
The FoodThe inspired menu at The Fine Line is compact but sufficiently varied, providing a good range of interesting dishes from several world cuisines and showing no fear of experimentation. It is accompanied by hefty London prices but it’s worth it for the quality of the well-presented and flavoursome food. There is a good selection of mains with the usual favourites accompanied by more interesting options such as courgette tart and salmon fishcakes. The large sharing plates and tapas style menu are ideal for groups, with delicious offerings like crispy spring rolls, tasty dips and juicy olives.
The DrinkDrinks at The Fine Line are expensive but well selected. There’s an impressive collection of world wines on offer and beers include Staropramen, Hoegarden and Leffe.
For ale drinkers there is London Pride and the reasonably priced Organic Honey Dew with the usual selection of spirits available for use in shorts, shots and cocktails.
The Last WordWith a location like this, The Fine Line could not fail to win. Get away from it all and lose yourself amid the calm.
