Been coming here for a couple of years now and though it's never been great they always did a great burger, good fish and chips and some of the specials were good. In recent months they had really upped their game and the food really went up a notch

However they have just had a change of chef we hear and we had the roast here on a Sunday. I got 2 small ultra-thin slices of beef (thickness of ham slices you get from the supermarket) - and that includes the 1cm gristle around it, potatoes which had clearly been under a lamp for hours and this for £15 - this is a pub after all. Not someone to complain but I had to point out that the portion of beef was ridiculous. The waiter had no choice really but shrug and agree based on the evidence and went off to tell the manager or chef.

What we got back was an explanation there is a new chef who wants to serve these portions and a half-hearted offer of a dessert on the house from the waiter without any word from the manager. We then got surly vibes after that despite bringing this up in a very polite manner and being regulars, so needless to say we finished our wine and left without the "freebie".

For a pub that relies on its regulars such as myself who come here to eat, especially people who have been coming here for some time then clearly ripping off customers - regulars who the staff recognise for that matter - in this day and age isn't going to bode well for very long. I for one won't be eating here any time soon. I left the pub still hungry and annoyed - there are better options in the area

Went to The Firestables for the first time last night and absolutely loved it. We were seated in a flash, drinks were delivered quickly and professionally, ordered the Steak and the missus ordered the seafood linguine. The food was absolutely excellent and reasonably priced for the quality of it. Will be returning with friends next time and definitely very hungry! Would recommend this restaurant to anyone!

We went there for Sunday lunch and it was excellent. We sat in the front section of the pub which was busy and had a great lively atmosphere. I don't normally have the roast beef in pubs as they are mainly over cooked and dry, but here that couldn't be further from the truth. The service was good, my only small complaint was that the alcohol was slightly over priced.

I would recommend this venue for Sunday lunch.

Very poor service indeed. In fact, when I passed a full drink from the barman to my husband and the slippery wet glass fell to the floor, I was made to pay for a new one! When I asked to speak to the manager about this he came over and was really aggressive and rude to me. He even said "so you expect us to pay for your mistake" - like I had done it on purpose!
Food was ok but not good enough to make up for poor customer service.

Sorry worst restaurant ever. I said that 2 years ago and went back tonight to see if it had improved.

At 8.30 pm ordered, at 9.30 pm got annoyed and hungry, at 9.40 pm waitress came to our table to say it would be 5 - 6 minutes, at 9.50 pm same incompetent waitress came to our table to say they had run out of the food we had ordered.

At which point we exploded.

Having seen the previous reviews I went to the Fire Stables without any expectations. I was pleasantly surprised. Being Wimbledon fortnight both the bar and restaurant were heaving, our table was available on time, full menu availability and the service was absolutely fine. The food was very good - I recommend the steak! All in all a good experience and I would definitely go back.

I'm sorry to say that but The Fire Stables are absolutely overrated. I was looking forward to a relaxed dinner with my in-laws (!) and all we got at The Fire Stables was lousy service, average and over-priced food and - last but not least - a recommendation for a dodgy mini cab company that ripped us off. We couldn't even complain at the time as no one was able to speak after the overly hot and spicy dishes...

Having recently been very disappointed by the service at The Fire Stables, I would like to invite the restaurant staff to think
about the words customer service.

Having over 10 years' experience in the
restuarant industry, covering all sections, from KP, silver service waiter,
Cordon Bleu Chef and Restaurant Manager, I was most shocked at the way the
second and third member of staff attended to us.

Our group of six was a big table in the bill sense. Having ordered champagne, wine and other drinks from the bar, we were told that we were restricted to the restaurant menu,
even after we had asked the waitress before we took our table if we could
combine the menus. A fair request in my opinion, if you have sufficient
supplies to service that menu!

The slightly cocky restaurant waitress at The The Fire Stables insisted that the pleasant member of staff was not part of the restaurant establishment and therefore we were only able to order from the main menu, as they are trying to maintain a different standard.

The bar and main menu varied by possibly three items, not a vast difference in standard? On placing our order the kitchen had run out of two of the main courses and some ingredients from other dishes. When I asked what what going on I was told
by the waitress to allow her to finish in the most abrupt tone.

In the end they offered us both menus. The food was mediocre but I can't help think, had the restaurant staff offered a little more pleasant service it could have saved
an embarrassing situation and not tainted a wonderful evening in the company of
great friends.

I'm not sure I would go back to The Fire Stables and I know the power of the Word of
Mouth in restaurant circles.

The Fire Stables has a busy bar with a nice atmosphere; alas the service was either non-existent or lousy. Despite booking a table for 20:45 midweek, we had to chase them for a table until 21:00. Young pretty staff in attendance, but did not understand their menu or wine list. The food was OK, bit over priced, although there was not a great choice. I wouldn't eat at The Fire Stables if it's as busy as before.

Not sure about the white outside or the scary name, but The Fire Stables is one of those gastropubs you'd imagine Mr Morse having some scran in - although I reckon he should get stuck into The Fire Stable's bottled Belgian beers instead. Actually, I've just remembered Morse is dead...Still, it's a great pub all the same.
