After strolling the streets of Kensington with four of my friends looking for a meal that didnt involve a loan or credit card downpayment before a gig at the Royal Albert Hall we stumbled upon the Gloucester Arms on Gloucester Rd. On first impressions the atmosphere looked good, it was busy and boasted "traditional pub food" so we thought we had lucked out.
The food was on the most part under a tenner for a main so we got a round in and ordered the food, 3 burgers and scampi and chips. Firstly the beer and we tried 3 different types were all very unpleasant and tasted far from normal. The staff were unfriendly and the service was far from good. When the food finally arrived we were all served about 5 - 10 minutes apart and was served on small side plates which was the first bad sign...... "have i ordered from the kids menu"? NO apparantly not. Now at £10 the Big Ben burger (served with egg, onion rings and cheeese) was small, had no egg and came with id say 7 sloppy aged chips, this applied to all four meals. When i asked the barmaid about the lack of egg the answer was "you should of been told when you ordered" "I wasnt informed?" Her reply, "oh well"..... That was unexpected. I've never written a restaurant review in my life but this shoddy, grimy, dingy, uncomfortable venue is one to avoid, mark my words. So to summerise, even for a beer this pub is not an option unless you stick to bottles and like i say food wise your better off getting a Burger King, it will prove better prepared, taste better and cost half the price.

well i dined in there yesterday the staff were fine food ok but what amazed me was that a lady who was obviously the manager started being aggresive and seemed to bully her staff she had not been behind the bar to serve only to walk about with her dogs and baby and i suppose her husband the staff seemed very unhappy whilst she was around but when she left the atmosphere seemed to relax as the staff obviously felt intimidated by her attitude and presence , i would go back but only if i knew this hideous bully was not in charge so wills i think your experience may have had issues attatched like this ,

I was visiting London in March and had the good fortune to find a penthouse flat to let on Gloucester Road. Much to my delight was
also finding The Gloucester Arms just down the street.
The fish and chips were so good it became a regular haunt.
I work in the music business, and was impressed with the star quality of the regulars there, as well as the pub's management; who took particular care to see that I'd met some of their musically talented patrons, and that all my wants and needs were addressed.
I can only assume that anyone having a bad experience at this delightful pub brought their own dark cloud in with them.

On Sunday evening with my friend I went in this pub, we are living in same street. After our meal, we had fish and chips, and drink. Pub staff (Ms Jade Marie Winter, duty manager?) approached us and told we have to leave pub if we don’t order another drink
I remind her we already had our food and drink and its not good customer service. Her unprofessional and rude reply was like a slap on our face “I don’t care what are you thinking. Whatever…”
I was so disappointed and embarrassed front of my friend so left the place immediately...she easily ruined our night.

This is a lovely traditional city pub and very comfortable and friendly. After a heavy day of sightseeing the pub was a welcome sight on our trek back to our hotel. Kids are welcome and the wine was good. Unfortunately, we did not eat here but the menus looked good. Sports tv available for those who must!!! Enjoyable.

The Gloucester Arms is a nice traditional pub if that's your sort of thing.

I like the fact I can go out for a simple meal and a bevvie or two without breaking the bank.
