Disastrous visit.Went for Sunday lunch on Mothers Day and had a very negative experience.Had to wait 1 hour 28 minutes from point of ordering for the food to arrive, which didn't help the patience of my 2 1/2 year old son. When we asked about the delay after just over an hour (we had to ask!!!!!...not told anything beforehand that there was any delay) the barman said he's on the bar and didn't know, but he was aware that 2 chef's had called in sick. The food eventually arrived and the roast potatoes were dried out from being under a lamp and were horrible. The chips for my son were so overdone that they were hard and dark brown. Stuffing for the roast chicken dish arrived on a separate plate as they forgot....and worse still no apology offered for the unbelievably long delay. We will never return there as the food, for the gastro prices charged, did not live up to the standard it should have been.Very very disappointed with the whole thing.

We used to frequent this pub all the time, however over the past two years the level of service has dropped from excellence to down-right terrible. The barmen are always moaning to each other in front of the customers about their employer, are very sluggish with the speed they provide service and often just down right rude.
We won't be coming back - the Rose and Crown pub on South Ealing Road has a wonderful neighbourhood feel about it, service is excellent and this will be our local from now on.

£10 for 3 sausages with mash? £11 for a burger and chips? The food here isn't bad but it's way overpriced.

I often come to this pub and with the recent glorious weather me and my husband decided to go and enjoy some drinks outside last weekend. As expected the garden was full, and although there didnt seem to be many staff working, we were served reasonably quickly. We found a spot outside and enjoyed the sunshine. The only spoiler for the afternoon was something we witnessed to a poor member of staff. A lady, who i presume is the manager as i have seen her a few times before being equally rude to her staff, called this poor chap, who was running around collecting things from tables to be rudely told that the garden was a state and it needed clearing. Then when someone came out almost immediately after to collect things this same woman demanded table service from him! What a way to treat your staff members! They were quite obviously understaffed and both me and my husband were shocked at her rudeness and inability to help when the business was obviously busy. Then again if she worked more me and my husband would not come as often as we do as we often see her being rude, demanding and butting in on conversations. Definitely need new management then this place would get full star ratings, and I bet not just from me.

The decor is lovely it draws you in but unfortunately a member of staff made me leave quite sharply.

I saw no clear sign separating the restaurant from the pub so decided to sit down with my husband.

I was then sharply told I should be there and should more, she was extremely rude.

So if a women with the face of the ice queen in Narnia walks in your direction run I tell you.

Its a shame because I was planning to go there for my anniversary but her rudeness has changed my mind.

Went to eat here with friends on Sunday the food is really not very good especially when you pay gastro+ prices £14 for a beef and Stilton pie which was bland small portioned the beef was tough and poor quality and for some reason they served the mash and vegetables on top of a paper towel which got stuck to the potatoes?!? Nice pub to maybe have a drink at but I would certainly avoid eating here which is sad because historically they used to serve good food at The Grange Tavern.

Yesterday I've been with my friends in this pub for birthday party. When we started singing the manager come and complain that we should be quiet!

Outstanding service!! and when we left pub at 11 pm. one of the staff was almost pushing us outside, " move, move from here".

he treat us like a dogs! I never had in UK and around the Europe such a bad, extremely rude service. I was shock.I'll never go there.

I had a good time here, dont know what all the fuss is about. Sol (barmaid from the carribean) is wonderful. I recommend the fois gras to anyone. Looking at the dates below, it seems that one party got their knickers in a twist and had a communal whine about it.

Having visited and enjoyed The Grange on a fairly regular basis for the last 25/30 years I am sorry to find myself filling out a review which seems to echo the feelings of the majority people below. The Grange has always been a lovely family pub where I have enjoyed birthdays christmas' etc. for most of my life in Ealing. On my last 3 or 4 visits I have witnessed confrontations with the management which have been so badly dealt with.

The couple current running the pub (2008-09) lack any sort of custom or personal skills. I have never seen a management team with such a talent for transforming a simple disagreement or complaint into a full blown altercation. I think it is about time the brewery put somebody else in charge who at the very least has the basic social skills required to run such an establishment and hopefully we can enjoy our local pub again! Beautiful looking pub but the buck stops there. They don't like kids, they don't like noise, they over price their drinks and food to beat west end prices, they have no personal skills and that goes for the manager and her husband!! Talk about the wrong skills for the job! They want your money and you out. Makes for a VERY bad pub in a beautiful location. Don't go for family fun or a laugh.

I reluctantly returned to the grange and was even more disapointed than before. The sunday roast was ridiculously small and extremely overpriced.Dont come here if you want to have fun and dont talk too loudly...the highly strung antipodean manageress does not allow it........As a kiwi writing this, I am embarassed by her lack of hosptitality. My english husband was a local for years. We will never go back. Go to Chiswick, far more relaxed and far better food.

Have to agree with the last review, lovely pub, small but always accomodating!! Went there as a one off in September and have kept going back. The wine list is extensive and the Banana Beer?? a little different (I think I will stick to the normal Kronenbourg). The food is a definite cut above the normal Pub Grub you have to try the baked camembert (gorgeous!!).

Not sure what the other reviewer meant, comparing a pub to a rather expensive bistro as 'better value'.

I've never had a problem finding a place to sit in The Grange. It is quite expensive but that is to be expected in this area. There is a good range of ales and unusual beers, and an extensive wine list. Due to the Victorian 'one room' nature of the pub, there is limited seating. Essentially it is a small pub and there was only a little more seating in the old layout (plus it was over-fussy, crowded 80s' middle class Victoriana. It looked like a department store Xmas display circa 1985, much better now!).

Smoke did used to drift, however with the smoking ban in force this is no longer an issue. The Grange has, like many pubs now, a sheltered area outside for smokers to use (useful in the rain!), and has a nice terrace area. Sadly the terrace is now always very crowded, due to smokers.

The Grange Tavern has just had a complete refurbishment which, while attractive, is actually not so friendly to the customer. There is a lot less space in which to eat & drink. Part of what was previously available to pub customers is now exclusively a restaurant. The remainder of the bar is now rather cramped with non-smokers being forced into a small area near the door. When I last ate there, (Jan 2005) all the tables in the non-smoking area were taken (including one being used by staff). I had to eat with the smell of smoke from the large smoking section. I expressed my feelings and had the report that "staff have to eat somewhere". Some lessons in customer service are needed, as well as a rethink on the layout.
The food is good, but portions skimpy. Charlottes Place, next door is much better value.
