The ViewLondon Review
A busy but relaxed boozer great for a drink after work with your mates - especially when the footie is on.The VenueThe Green Man is located just off Oxford Street but seems miles away from the marauding shoppers. It is the opposite end of Berwick Street to the market and the bar itself is spacious with a good array of seating comprising of booths, armchairs and bar stools. It is quite an open and bright pub, unlike many in Soho, which gives it a cheery atmosphere. When a match is on it can get very busy and there is little chance of finding a seat or refuge in the sea of people, especially in front of the big screen. However, there are screens all around the pub so chances are you will have a view from somewhere. There is also a pool table and games machines to keep you entertained during half time if you’re not battling it out at the bar.
The AtmosphereThe Green Man is a friendly place with good service that attracts all types of patrons but mainly those that have been working in the area. The pub is a lot less pretentious than some of the bars in the surrounding area but also lacks a bit of the character that might be associated with a certain level of pretension. On the whole, it’s quite generic and functional but does liven up when a game is on.
The FoodThe Green Man serves your typical pub grub, burgers and chips, but supplies good-sized portions for reasonable prices.
The DrinkThe prices are very good, especially for its location. You can get a pint for under £3 with a fair selection of draughts and bottles as well as wine and spirits.
The Last WordThe Green Man is a no frills bar that is cheap, cheerful and satisfies all your basic needs.
