The ViewLondon Review
A decent enough choice on the edge of Hammersmith, The Hart has some pretty good food deals and a few beers on offer that make for a pleasant break from the norm. The VenueAt the end of King Street, just before it turns into Chiswick, The Hart is a typical neighbourhood bar. They have tried for a look of modern chic with dark wood tables and low-slung leather couches, but it ends up being a bit cold. Having the pizza oven next to the bar is a good touch providing visual interest and teasing the olfactory senses.
The AtmosphereThe Hart is made up of a reasonably large space that can feel rather barren. The walls are mostly bare and without lots of people it seems a little soulless.
The FoodThe pizzas look good and you can watch them being prepared in the stone oven. They offer good value with both a 6 inch 'pizzette' size and the standard 12 inch pizza size. Besides pizza, they offer salads, wraps, sharing plates and sweets. None of the menu items breaks the £8 barrier.
The DrinkThe Kirin beer on tap is a bit different, as is the Erdinger Weissbrau, which has a refreshing fruity taste. The Hart also mixes cocktails and has a selection of wines by glass or bottle. Their prices are a bit rich and there is no justification for what they are charging.
The Last WordThere are nicer pubs and better food around in these parts, but The Hart is a decent choice if you want space to spread out or a nice hot pizza. Just don't come looking for a big crowd or a bargain drink.
