With the good weather finally appearing I feel lucky to have stumbled across this charming location. Great outside area with a good pint and tasty food. It's only danger is that you're tempted to stay a lot longer than you should!

Regardless of what the last reviewer thinks, this place advertises itself on their own website as a Bar & Restaurant. They even dedicate a section to their menu I quote
“All our meals are freshly prepared and cooked to order”.
Our kitchen is open daily from 12 noon until 3.00pm and 6.00pm until 9.30pm
Saturday 12 noon until 9.30pm
Sunday 12 noon until 9.30pm

So who is misleading who? Perhaps they have an identity crisis? By the way there are loads of places in London where Amstel tastes like it should. It is a myth that beer can only taste good if it’s brewed locally, that might have been the case before but not with modern preservation technologies. Question are IPA or Adnams local? I don’t think so.

Sounds like standard online pub shorthand for 'we're a pub that does food'. Having worked in the industry (for a brewery) for some time (NOT for any pubs in Ealing- I'm not biased here) it sounds like a slight case of the euphamisms of pub advertising - let's face it, many, many pubs claim 'home cooked food' (including the direst shopfront 'captain morgans' places) - being misinterpreted. This pub is a good, normal pub. It is NOT a restaurant, no local would claim it to be anywhere near even a gastropub. There is no identity crisis.

I re-iterate, that as a local, I have always found it CLEAN and the beer GOOD. - Report

I tried to book a table by phone but now answer during the afternoon which seems a bit strange, however there’s a link on their website to book a table and so I did. Prompt response within an hour from staff telling me he reserved a table for four at the window. Great!! My friends and I arrived and although this place looks very nice from the outside it’s different inside. Empty tables are dirty with glasses and rubbish on them. However this wasn’t going to spoil my night. So we sat down and I checked with the girl behind the bar that I booked a table for 21.00. We than ordered a round of Drinks. I had a pint of Amstel but this was sub standard and very watery. Not at all as it should taste and I know because I’m Dutch and lived there for 35years drinking Amstel during most of my adult life. However the best is still to come. Can we have the menu please? Reply from the same girl behind the bar “ Oh I’m sorry we don’t do food tonight”. I took out my PDA and showed the confirmation email. “ Yes, was the reply, you have a table don’t you” . Flabbergasted, speechless, we counted our losses and crossed the road to the Gourmet Burger Kitchen. 5 out of 5! As for the Haven, stay away!

The Haven is a drinking pub, as opposed to an eating pub. It wouldn't be unreasonable to expect a table to be booked for drinking alone; comparing it to a burger restaurant is totally unfair!
I've been going there for 10 years or so and never found it dirty. I think maybe this reviewer was misled as to the type of venue is is? It's just a pub.
As for the quality of a beer that has travelled- that's what happens, I'm afraid. Guinness in Amsterdam tastes less well kept than a pint in Dublin, so it's logical the opposite should happen. It's sad but one of those things. Why not try a local beer for a fresher flavour? - Report
