Went to this place on Friday and was impressed. Not too packed, quick & efficient food service and a decent few pints. The decor and atmosphere is a cut above the average boozer as well, and it doesn't suffer from the 'trying too hard' trendiness of some places around Clapham/Balham.

I liked the Jackdaw and Rook - it's the kind of place that you can easily lose a few hours by falling back into the sofas and drinking pint after lovely pint. The Jackdaw and Rook's certainly a good place for Balham to have.

I'm not being funny right, but the Jackdaw and Rook is the best place to spend a Sunday afternoon. Me and my friends have been drinking there for a while now and it's so good when you're a little hungover and you just want to shoot some pool and sink a few more in comfy sofas. They've been good to us too at the Jackdaw and Rook - they kept my friends wallet behind the bar for him when he lost it in the toilets the other day. So thanks.
