I really couldn't advise you strongly enough to find somewhere else to spend your hard earned cash and free time. We had a group lunch at the Jolly Gardeners yesterday. We waited one hour 15 minutes for our food and this seemed to be the norm. The Jolly Gardeners waitress response was that of what do you expect when everyone orders at the same time, as if Sunday lunch was a surprise to them.

The staff were rude, the food was terrible and cold. The tables were filthy. The toilets were disgusting and seemed like they hadn't been cleaned for months. I ended up leaving early as the longer I stayed, the more annoyed I became.

I've attempted to enjoy the facilities at the Jolly Gardeners on several occasions now but I won't be going back again! It was New Years Eve and I'd arranged for 15 mates to go there. Firstly our complimentary glass of champagne was nowhere to be seen - I questioned this and, to say the woman at the door was rude is an understatement. My comments to the manager later were also met with disdain.

Then we found that there was no facility for a coat check and, being middle of winter, it wasn't ideal for us all to be holding our giant jackets in a pub that was already severely overcrowded (doesn't allow for much dancing!). The ladies loos had a wait of 25 mins, and then there was no light in there to see. I actually stopped drinking to avoid having to go anywhere near it!

Since then we have tried a quiet after work drink and a Sunday lunch, all of which have been soured by hostile or rude staff. In fact, we waited so long to get any attention last Sunday in an otherwise empty bar, we walked out. We won't be trying The Jolly Gardeners again!

The Jolly Gardeners is a fantastic place and has great food and friendly staff. I have been down on several occasions during the week; while Monday's are quiet and relaxed, Saturday night is a great laugh.
The staff are a real pleasure and some of the girls are real lookers!

I went along on Saturday night to celebrate a friend's birthday. A table had been reserved and we were looking forward to a fantastic night out. Sadly, this was not to be the case. The staff were aggressive and unhelpful when it was pointed out food, which had been paid for, had not arrived. There were issues with the reservation as well - nothing was easy. The customer is always right did not apply here. This pub has potential as the wine/beer list is great and the menu delicious but the staff really let it down.

After a major refit 1 year ago the 'Jollys' has been transformed into a fresh trendy lively and friendly bar. The food is excellent and the menu is changed every couple of weeks. The staff are very well informed and friendly, it seems a genuine pleasure for them to serve you, which makes a change.

The bar is decked out with kitch furniture and has a whole host of interesting photos on the walls, it's worth a visit just to check out the 'Photo-Art'.

Situated just a few minutes walk from the river it's an ideal alternative when all the riverside pubs and bars are rammed with tourists, plus there are two beer gardens!!
