Unfortunate enough to eat here the other night with four friends and it was VERY poor.
Had mussels to start - half of them weren't open and the liquor, which should be creamy, was like water.
A friend had the same and hers was identical. For main several of us had steak but this too was very disappointing.
The meat was tough and pretty tasteless and none of our steaks had been cooked to order - despite some wanting medium, others medium rare, all were virtually uncooked.
To make matters worse none of the plates had been heated which meant the food was stone cold within minutes.
And they cheekily charge 12.5% service!
Overall it was terrible and we won't be eating here again. Sack the chef and get someone in there who knows what they're doing.
The jolly gardeners is great! literally cannot fault it! great food, great drink, great atmosphere, great staff!!!!
Need an antidote to that awful sinking feeling in your tummy that starts on a Sunday morning?
Those horrendous "back to boarding school" blues that you are unable to shake no matter how passionate you are about your workllife?Well, I have found the perfect cure.
Sunday lunch at the Jolly Gardeners in Garratt Lane.It is my little piece of gastronomic heaven.
The Jolly Gardeners is probably best classified as a gastro pub but the term does not do it justice.
This is not your average posh-pub-grub setting. The food is delicious, by far the most adventurous explosion of flavours south of the river.
The wine list is sexy, and each wine has been selected to compliment the food that is served to a continually high standard.
The atmosphere is relaxed yet the quality of service doesn't suffer for it.
I really can't compliment it enough.Do yourselves a favour and book a spot in the sunshine for a lazy summer afternoon roast.
Top notch food and drink venue, blown away by the quality of pub food here.
All the ladies loved it, very female friendly, superb garden for the summer drinks, as shown to us by the manager.
We are having a birthday menu written for us by the chef as well as my favourite cake hand made. Can't wait x
The Jolly Gardeners is a great pub with a really wonderful atmosphere. The staff are friendly and the management make a massive effort to ensure quality of service and food.
The restaurant at the back is large and the menu varied. There is an open kitchen and you certainly feel that your meal is prepared with care prior to being served.
I have eaten there on a number of occasions and always been impressed.Additionally there is a live band on the last Friday of every month which makes it even livelier. I recommend this to anyone and will certainly be going back frequently.
The Jolly Gardeners is a lovely pub with friendly staff. The food is fantastic and the dining room at the back of the pub has a great atmosphere.
I used to live on Garratt Lane and went frequently, I have now moved from the area but still go back for an occasional evening meal, the food is worth it!
i had an amazing time over Christmas in this stylish bar. The Jolly Gardeners does great food and service, which is just what was needed. The live music night was a complete surprise.
It is definitely the best pub/ restaurant in the area. I am proud to call myself a regular, and will recommend The Jolly Gardeners to others. Keep up the good work fellas.
The Jolly Gardeners is nice enough pub-cum-bar but unfortunately it is the most recent in a long list of good old-fashioned local pubs with Pool tables, pub grub etc. to have been gentrified (standardised and stripped of originality) and painted taupe.
The longterm clientele at The Jolly Gardener look slightly bemused by the influx of Australian youth and London Yo-Pros but seem happy enough as long as draft beer is still on offer.
My partner and I went to The Jolly Gardeners last night as we saw the pub was under new management and had a new gastro pub menu.
The back of the pub holds the restaurant seating area which has lovely decor for intimate dining. The food was amazing and the staff pleasant. We were the only ones dining so the atmosphere could have been better however hopefully this review will change that! The Jolly Gardeners is well recommended!
I was very pleasantly surprised by the Jolly Gardener which is why I felt I had to recommend it on View London. The food, atmosphere and cost were excellent, I'd definitely recommend the Jolly Gardener.
