The pub in this hotel is now known as the 'Duke of Kent'. When I was a kid it was a rough and ready place with bikers and brawls. Now it is plush, slightly pricey and the kind of pub you can take your mum to for Sunday Lunch.



It has very attractive oak fittings, plenty of seating both inside and out. The staff are quick (though some are inexperienced - possibly local students/gap year kids) and helpful.



The biggest step up has been food. The portions are very large and it is home-cooked traditional pub fare. It costs a little more than some other places but this is reflected in the quality. I particularly enjoyed their fish and chips.
