Just happened to find this little gem on a sunday night while out and about for a stroll and thought we would pop in for a roast. Pub was a cozy affair with a somewhat crazy but sweet style of decorating. Prices are slightly on the higher side but this was an acceptable trade off to not eating at what seemed like their only competition ( a whetherspoons down the road a bit) roast were delicious and served promptly and were plentiful but the kicker came with the delicious chocolate brownie and ice cream for dessert. Will be back for that for sure!
I've been a patron of the Kings arms for many many years and seen it through its peaks and troughs etc,. Since 2007 it has gone from strength to strength, got busier with its Quiz night, cheap ribs and rumps on a tue and the standard of food and service exceptional for a gastro pub. But i sense now the owners are now resting on their laurels and the standards are slipping rapidly. Incompetent ever changing staff who barely no how to pull a pint, and now the once fabulous food is being served up to people as if the chef can't be bothered. It takes a lot to make me complain but i have suffered enough poor meals from there recently to start looking for another pub in which to spend my money. Ropey gristle filled bits of £17 sirloin steak, raw potatoes on a sunday roast, a Sausage, egg ,bacon muffin which not only was i over charged for was served on a crumpet are just a few of the howlers over the last few months. And when your good money you expect good food.
To put it bluntly the staff, chef, owner couldn't give a toss anymore and are relying on it's one great reputation and thats an insult to it's regulars - sadly thats enough for me.
The burgers at The Kings are exceptional.
The King's Arms is a rare jewel in London's crown - a comfy pub with an excellent choice of drinks, sparking atmosphere and delicious food which is neither a) overpriced nor b) usual pub-grub fayre.
I've been drinking here for some time but the new Ribs, Rumps and Rhythms evening, every Tuesday, has got it all for me. Special offers on several menu items (including the aforementioned ribs and rumps!) mean that you can get a delicious meal for only £6.95 which is about as far from the food served up by the Weatherspoons of this world as you could wish to get. In addition, DJs provide a great accompanying soundtrack from about 8pm until close, with a fantastic mix of records encompassing just about every genre and style.
Highly recommended!
Best pub around, simple as that!
Monday's quiz night is always rammed!
Tuesdays 'Ribs, Rumps & Rhythms' .. half price food plus Djs to a cool party atmosphere is also excellent.
Rest of the week is usualy full. Closes late on Friday (1am) and Saturday (midnight).
If there is one tiny critism.. that it is a tad expensive.. I guess you get what you pay for!
The Kings Arms is a great pub. The bar staff and the managers are really friendly.
The food is very good, I recommend the Barnsley chop and the wines are great too.
Cosy comfy environment, also great to watch the rugby in.
What a coincidence! I've often wandered past and wondered what it could possibly be like inside The Kings Arms. Though it's never occurred to me to go inside and find out.
The Kings Arms Best does the best burger and chips, with different toppings, in London and the wine list rocks too! The Kings Arms has great staff, a great atmosphere and is very comfy!
