letter to management

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am a journalist who resides locally at Winchmore Hill and use your restaurant regularly.

I telephoned your restaurant The Kings Head, Winchmore Hill, London N21 last morning and reserved a table for 6 for 7.30-7.45pm and specifically requested the corner table.

When I arrived with my guests, all the tables were occupied and a table at the bar end which had seating for 5 had been kept for us. When I inquired from the waiter he seemed annoyed and stated that he was too busy to attend to me and that we should take the table provided. He suggested that although there are only 5 chairs, three could squeeze in on the settee to make it six. The settee normally seats two and if you have three seated on the settee you will not have space to eat and one setting will fall off the table. There was only one staff member in attendance and was clearly over worked and could not handle the situation.

The reservation had been taken by a "G" and when I asked for the manager, the person who arrived admitted that it was he who had taken the order.

He was apologetic, and stated that he could put a chair in the space between our table and the next. That would have crowded on the space of the next table for two, which was already occupied. This suggestion was also inconsiderate as two people having dinner at the next table would not have appreciated someone being placed, with the back of our chair almost touching their table crowding their space.

It is clear that your manager did not plan for our reservation for six and his solution was to squeeze us into a table for five. We had requested the corner table to be furthest away from the bar and were being offered a table closest to the bar.

I complained and left, and had a very pleasant evening at Studio pasta in Winchmore Hill, where the food was surprisingly excellent.

Our guests and our family was inconvenienced, and the service of your restaurants was unacceptable and

A large pub with a good and traditional menu. The decor is traditional and assorted wooden chairs and tables with a snug complete with sofas and bar billiards. It is slightly pricey which reflects the clientèle. It is VERY popular at the weekends with families and is a post walk-in-the-park destination. Recommended.

Great pub. Friendly bar staff. Wide range of drinks.

Food is good but bit overpriced, although does class itself as a gastro-pub.

Clientele are mature and well to do. Place is always busy but not claustrophobic.

"Older age group?!"Their taste buds have gone the same way! Food.. Taste's like old dripping.( took me ages to find the right word for the taste)

Avoid Friday & Sat. Please . please ,please sort it out before it too, going down the pan, For those that don't understand I don't mean the Toilet.

From, Last cry for a decent local pub!
