I had a blinding Sunday lunch here yesterday, as recomended by a friend who works in the area, I had the mixed roast the beef was buttery pork melt in your mouth and the chicken was nice and tender, best roast i've had for a long time, the only down side was the red cabbage although beautifully spiced not appropriate for the start of April Gastro pubs should know better.
Was here with friends for dinner last night and it was excellent. Friendly staff, great atmosphere and delicious food. Ate upstairs in the dining room and tried the partridge parcel for starter and lamb rump and the pork belly for mains. Will definitely be coming back.
Sadly it's going downhill after a great start. 5 visits to the Lady O since opening, my first 2 visits in nov were fantastic, albeit small portions.
At the 3rd, we left after waiting an hour without food. Staff were v aplogetic.
At the 4th, the food was average.
the 5th yesterday was terrible – pork belly arrived 90% fat, white & wobbly, barely browned on the top – surely it should have been cooked slowly to render down? A replacement dish of venison casserole was more like a venison soup with just 2 drizzled small pieces of meat in it. The decor & service are great, but food that's now worse than brewery gastropub chain? I hope they replace the chef, otherwise I doubt they'll last long.
Great food, great wine list, brilliantly attentive and friendly staff. Didn't want to give the secret away but they deserve the custom. Great to have such a brilliant pub in the area.
Tried this place for the first time last week. Very impressed - good quality food and very attentive and friendly staff. Would have liked a greater selection of draught lagers however. Will be back to try more of the menu.
In less than a month, this place has already achieved it's aim of being the best pub in the local area. Indeed, the definition of 'local area' needs to be expanded as this is a gastropub worth crossing town for. An enticing menu which exceeded any prior expectations upon delivery of each course, very friendly and attentive service, and a tastefully refurbished venue will make this THE hot new place to check out.
Simply beautiful! This is no ordinary 'gastro pub'.. This is a bar that offers very fine dining indeed in it's dining room.. food, staff, wine, all amazing and gorgeous surroundings.. book now, this place will take off!
