Had a fabulous leaving do there recently for a friends leaving do. Great atmosphere and vibe with a great DJ, playing some great tunes. We also had some of the tasting menu there and the food was delecious. Highly recommended for a local lively bar in Clapham.

Had a fantastic 30th Birthday party at The Loft. I contacted the team a few weeks before the date and they were very helpful in suggesting a course of action for the night. I was provided with price lists, offers and an explanation of the area that was reserved for us. On the night, the staff were very friendly and accommodating. The food was great too! I pre-ordered mini-burgers and mini-fish&chips and they were just the right size portions to accompany my guests alongside the drinks. The bar itself is a great space with lots of seating and standing space. Not once did it feel overcrowded. Looking forward to visiting again!

Really good local cocktail bar. Gets a bit crowded at the weekend, but I prefer going midweek when the atmosphere is chilled, the drinks are great and the 241 cocktails are excellent value.

We went to the Loft on Saturday for a friends birthday. I wouldn't normally go near Clapham High Street on a Saturday, as its all a little messy for my liking, but I was pleasantly surprised by the Loft. The entrance didn't seem like much, but when you go upstairs the place is really cool. The 241 cocktails until 8pm were great value, and really good quality as well. The staff were friendly but not in your face, and the food was pretty tasty too.

All in all, it might even persuade me to brave Clapham High Street again in the future.

Well I wish I could agree with the previous comments...
I was planning to celebrate my 30th there and got in touch with the manager. The manager came across very cold and abrupt in her emails. It was said that everything will be confirmed on the week of the event, however, whilst I was away and with no access to internet, she sent an email asking about my booking and her following email was saying she will cancel my booking if I don't get in touch asap! The fact I set up the out of office email so she would have been notified I was away, yet still canceled my event!
I promptly sent her an email to confirm but as didn't get any reply within hours, I called the bar who was answered by a person with very cold manner! Felt the whole procedure not taken with care and decided to go elsewhere. Its a big shame as I have been there before and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. They seriously need a training in customer service in their office!

Virginie,

For every 2 bookings we get, one cancels, or doesn't show up on the night without telling us. It is mainly due to people booking more than one venue for a party, and then asking their friends where they would like to go. When this happens, very often we have to tell people that we are fully booked, and are then left we spare tables.

To ensure this doesn't happen and we have to disappoint people, we email people the week before their booking asking them to confirm. If they don't reply, within 3 days we email again and ask them to confirm by the following day in order to keep the booking.

You were sent these emails, and we never received an out-of-office email from yourself. Consequently we removed you from the booking sheet. When you emailed us at 12.30pm on the Monday, a day when we are closed, we replied at 6.30pm to say that it wasn't a problem and that you still had a booking. You also called the bar and I spoke to you. I could tell you were anxious so I said straight out that it wasn't a problem to reassure you. If you felt I was being blunt, then I apologise but it was not my intention.

4 days later on the Friday you decided to cancel to booking anyway.

We pride ourselves on good customer service, and feel strongly that we did not act in an unprofessional manner in this instance.

Yours Sincerely

Andrew

yes Andrew, but you did not send the week before but WEEKS before my booking and funnily enough, you are the only person who did not get my out of office.

Anyway, I wasn't saying it in a bitter way, I just think its a bit sad the way some bars approach and communicate with their future customers who are planning to spend a lot of money in their premises... You are obviously a very popular bar with rewards so don't need to make too much effort I guess...

I choose to celebrate my birthday at The Loft. I had not been before but the location was perfect for me and the pictures on the site looked great. The pictures defiantly don’t do the venue justice.
Upon arrival the staff could not have been more welcoming and adaptable to my groups requirements, they had given the area I had reserved some thought and it was almost like we had a private area at no extra cost.
The atmosphere in there on a Friday night is great, it’s an eclectic mix and buzzing but not too crowded and it doesn’t take forever to get a drink as the bar is more than adequately staffed. Our group decided to give the cocktail menu a go. They are delicious and expertly mixed by friendly, confident but not arrogant mixologists.
The DJ built the music up as the night went on and smashed out a few bangers which contributed to the great atmosphere but didn’t overtake the night like it can in some venues.
Oh and the lift taking you out is great when all the cocktails kick in. Over all I had a great night and would without a doubt recommended The Loft to anyone, loved it.

I had my birthday celebrations here on Saturday and it was a great venue. I reserved an area really easily online which was definitely worth it as it was really busy. The cocktails were fantastic and a bargain during happy hour. It was a great vibe and a great night.

The Loft is a great place to book a party at the weekend. The staff were if contact loads before the event to make sure everything went smoothly. The door staff could have been nicer, but then thats kind of expected. Once inside, the drinks and service are great.

What a great bar! I booked a table for my birthday. The managers were in contact loads before hand to make sure everything went just right, which is just nice, and helps to make for a fun and relaxing night. The cocktails are delicious, I particularly liked the Ladyboy Mojito!

Thanks for making my party go so well.

Popped into the Loft last night after playing sports at the new Clapham Leisure Centre. The cocktails are delicious. Was only going to have one, but they were so nice and on 241 that I had 4, and totally undid all the good work.

Will definitely try again soon on a weekend.

Having just moved to Clapham, I thought I would check out some of the local bars. The Loft is top draw. I went along on a Thursday, and proceeded to work my way through a sizeable chunk of the cocktail menu, ably assisted by a good friend. They were all delicious. I particularly enjoyed the Uncle Buck and the "Soupy Twist" (a reference to some Fry and Laurie Sketch I am told).

We also ordered some sharing food, and it was a cut above your usual bar fare. Not fancy, but hearty and tasty, which is just right when you are sipping on a few too many cocktails.

Went to this place on Saturday... it was pretty bad. Despite being the only table in the whole place we waited aaaaaages for driinks and food (half an hour for a bottle of prosecco and 1 hour for a few bowls of humus!). However, the worst part of the whole experience was the follow up email from the manager... The organiser of the group I was with emailed her to point a few aspects of the service which we felt could be improved for the future and the manager's response was one of the rudest things I've ever read... she even accused my friend of lying!! She described us as a group as inexperienced and said she would not only offer us a consolatory round of drinks if none us posted on an online forum! I will never, ever go anywhere near this place and would advise other people to stay as far as way as possible too!

I booked a girlie Christmas lunch at the Loft in Clapham on Saturday. We had a really bad experience the staff were rude and we had to go to the bar everytime we wanted a drink. I emailed the manager to complain about the slow service and other things - and I received the rudest email I've ever read. I definitely will not be going back ever.

If ViewLondon allowed the reviewer to give a 0 star rating, I would have done! A group of us went on Saturday to eat lunch, we were the only table in the bar and it still took 30 minutes to be served drinks and 50 minutes to be served 2 bowls of humus!!! We complained at the time but the service didn't improve. I've read many good things about this place so would perhaps have assumed that this was a one-off bad experience, had it not been for the email we later received from the manageress. One of our party sent her a polite email of complaint - this was supposed to be a kind gesture to point out areas where we though the service should have been better. The email she received in response from the manager was one of the rudest I've ever seen in my life. This lady clearly has no idea how to treat customers and I find it amazing that she holds such a high position. Not only will I never go to this place again, I will advise anyone else to do the same!

THIS PLACE IS TERRIBLE!!! I CAN'T BELIEVE PEOPLE GIVE IT GOOD REVIEWS - THEY MUST ALL BE DONE BY THE STAFF!The service is terrible - we waited for over 30 mins to get our first drink and then even longer for our food. Having a 1 course meal took 3 hours (and the place was empty!! it was 4pm!!). Not only that the staff were horrendously rude, and even though we complained a few times during our visit, they didn't change their behaviour or attitude. There were 10 of us in our group and we were there for our xmas party - the night was ruined by the rudeness of the staff.Honestly there are MANY more places you can go for drinks and dinner in clapham, so don't ruin your evening by going here.

The cocktails at the Loft are awesome. Try the Uncle Buck, or the Capsicum Gimlet. Really good standard of bar food too.

Unfortunately mine has not been a good experience at the Loft.
The rudeness of the security at the door has been historical, even if we were part of a birthday party. My gay friend has been repeatedly provoked and judged for his dressing. enter has been denied to him, and he's been admitted only when the birthday girl came downstairs to mediate.
I've been wrongly charged at the bar twice, and when complained treated with contempt.

no place for a happy evening out.

I booked an area in the loft for my birthday last Saturday 22nd October and was very pleased with the ease of booking and the fact there was no charge! The area was right by the bar and we were able to get table service for some food we ordered (food platters which were really tasty and great value). The cocktails were lovely though would recommend getting there early to take advantage of the 241 offers.

Nice evening, good vibe and decent tunes. However, the male bar staff are the rudest and unpleasant individuals I have ever experienced. As we sit spinning dits on the craic last night over a drink, turns out every one of us, lads and lasses, had nothing good to say about them. Real let down... Mugs!

The Loft is my favourite local. Its nice and relaxed midweek, with great cocktails which are amazing value with the 241's and £5 deals, and at the weekend, if I invite some friends down, it is packed with a great atmosphere. The food is simple but really tasty too.

I had a great night last sat and must say that the food that I had was lovely! I am a vegetarian and had the roasted cheese and veg stack. I can honestly say that this is the best veggie meal I have had in ages. A great size portion and definitely something that I will come back and order again!

The night was pretty poor, to be honest. We got there and the pre-booked table was available, but the sheer lack of customer service beyond offering two tables (adjacent to the toilets) was noticeable. Despite our requests to order food, no-one was there to take any food nor drink orders, and our order for snacks at the bar was subsequently ignored or forgotten.

At the end of the night, we were unceremoniously ushered out by aggressive bouncers, and the 'VIP' access to Plan B consisted of 50% off wristbands. After being given four bands by a surly barman and told 'that was it', I requested to speak with the manager, upon which were were foisted with a book of around ten more to disseminate amongst our party (of 18).

We were then not informed by Loft staff where Plan B was, and the 'hop, skip and jump' quickly turned into an expensive pair of taxis to take us to our destination. Upon reaching Plan B, we were told that the wristbands we were given meant nothing, and that it was £15 entry due to there being a promoter's night on there.

After twenty minutes of standing outside and arguing with the door staff (not to mention losing half of our group due to the price and inconvenience after having taken a taxi to this rude reception), we eventually managed to get it for some money off the cover charge, nothing to to with the wristbands offered at the Loft.

Excellent place to have a celebration. Staff are excellent and everything was done with little hassle. I also like how you can reserved the North and Sofa areas and while you have you own little area you don't lose the atmosphere. Also arrive before 9pm as the 2-4-1 cocktails are highly recommended.
