Like the last review I don't believe whats written on this site. It really comes across like jealous backstabbing from local competition. The Londesborough is a very busy pub. Why? Because it is Managed well and the food and service are just awesome. Its our local and we love it. It is by far the most stylish and cosmopolitan pub in the area.
We also recently attended a wedding reception at TheLondesborough which was just fantastic.

I can't understand the number of low scored reviews! Perhaps people caught them on a bad day. As a visitor to London, I was mighty impressed at the service, food and well kept beer. I'd thoroughly recommend the Pork Belly, the vegetables were perfectly cooked and the Roast Potatoes must have been cooked in something good! I'll certainly be back if I'm ever in the area.

Not the best experience ive ever had. Bar staff, one in particular was so rude and dissrespectful. I dont appreciate my cutlery and plate being slammed down on the table just because I asked for some sauce? seriously is it that hard a thing to request in a middle to upper class targeted pub? The building itself is a delight. Open fires, quirky decorating and some nice pictures. But that counts for nothing when the people there make you feel awful and angry.

For me, the Rose & Crown oppisite the town hall is the best in stoke newington for atmosphere, food and friendly faces.

Don't believe this tittle tattle. You must work for the Rose and Crown or perhaps
are seeking a free pint from said owner.
The slamming down of a plate sounds bogus at best. The staff at The Londesborough work hard and
are some of the best in the London let alone Stoke Newington.
You basically sound like a baby!

The one star refers to the actual place. The pub is truly beautiful, but that's about it though. Terrible food, terrible service, terrible and unjustified pricing.
The food is such a disappointment that at first I thought I must have been wrong, soon after though, after the other courses arrived, my doubts became certainties.
Pretentious and badly managed this pub is destined to fail big time.

I agree, the staff are miserable and couldn't care less, awful food and really expensive. It's always cold and you never feel welcomed, so sad as it is a beautiful building, could be amazing with the right owners.

My husband and I have been 'regulars' at great 'Peasant' for some time, we both work in Clerkenwell. As we live in Dalston we were thrilled when told that the Bros had at last opened a second Gastropub in Stoke Newington.
We were not disappointed, although still in its infancy under their ownership we could already feel the warmth from their work. Staff just like at the Peasant are lovely and attentive. The Menu although a little simpler is delivered with aplomb and the Rib Eye and Fishcakes we had were spot on and great value. the Banoffee pie we shared was a treat too.
As regards the interior:
The review from View-London says it all really: 'The look is refreshingly new and captures a spirit that most pubs only hope too'

We now love The Peasant and The Londesborough. So fabulous to see that the personal touches abound here in this day and age of soulless Vin ordinaire that the public are subjected to daily!

Just returned from Sunday lunch at said pub.
Had traditional Sunday roast, but with no Yorkshire puddings, complained and was just told sorry, no reduction in price of meal or offer to supply them ( all other diners were served them)
Also shocked to find they had added a 20% service charge on the bill...........this policy was not publicised.
Oh, the guinness was lovely.

Hurrah! at last Stoke Newington has a decent Gastro Pub. With a chef who trained at Harveys with Marco Pierre White and also with Corrigan no less.
The food is amazing as witnessed by the crowds that flock to this cozy and cool pub on weekends. Yes there are lots of kids and families and arty types too. Hey this is Stoke Newington...highest birth rate in Europe per square metre.
The art on the walls is fabulous and the staff do their best to please.
Love it!

Oh dear, oh dear.... What a disgrace of a bar! 3 horrific hours spent at the Londesborough, leaving hungry and annoyed!

Stringy beef, burnt potatoes and raw vegetables.... After waiting for almsot an hour?? This isn't what you expect - especially for the N16 prices! When this is then replaced for exactly the same dish 20 minutes later you know there's no hope. Maybe an apology or explanation may help... No chance!!

Congratulations for hiring the most incompetent manager I have ever met. Oh, and if you have an aggressive Chef (microwave technician) please make sure he has no customer interaction.

This once was a fantastic bar... How it has changed. What a shame.

Step one to improving this bar: GET STAFF WHO CAN DO THEIR JOB!

Well, well, well! What a coincidence, I know exactly who you are as I was there having lunch that Sunday with some friends and I heard how rude you were. I was amazed how well the manager handled the situation. You could see how busy they were and you still persisted with your verbal abuse of the staff. I recommend you just stay at home and eat your pot noodle! The Londesborough is my local and has been for many years and it will be an even better place with out you there. We love The Londesborough!

We went to the Londesborough today, the waitress was rude, the food was 2 hours late and horrible when it arrived.
The chef was pleasant though but I can't say the same for our visit.

It's a shame as we use to really enjoy going there.

People that complain about there being too many children probably shouldn't eat out or work in Stoke Newington. . . . . .

We went there this Sunday. atmosphere and food are fine.

Great choice of alcohol, but I will not be returning in a hurry. Why?

We ran a tab at the bar and were stung for a 10% service charge on our food (just about acceptable) but also on rounds we bought at the bar.

Nowhere was this policy publicised and nor was it brought to our attention - it was jotted in tiny writing on the bottom of our bill adding and extra £8.

The Londesborough is an interesting case study for one of the few down-sides of the no smoking ban. Every Saturday and Sunday afternoon, the place is literally invaded by babies and small children. One can barely walk through the door for prams and other child related objects. Funnily enough it was one of the bar maids who brought this up to me saying that they could barely cope with the 'Playschool Effect' and were helpless to do anything about it.

As such, stay well clear on weekends! However any other time is certainly worth a visit. This really is a beautiful pub with with so much going for it. One of those rare back street beauties.

The Bloody Mary is quite unbelievable and at £3.95 has to be the cheapest and most effective hangover cure in London.

Surely it is time for pubs to go back to the 'No Children' rule?!

Should be renamed "Play School". More under 5's than over 18's. And none well behaved. Total shambles, chaos, and hazardous for ear drums, unless you're into high pitched bratty screaming.

After having a Sunday roast and a couple of pints we settled our tab. We mentioned to the manager who served us that the atmosphere was horrendous due to the number of uncontrollable kids wreaking havoc. She sympathised saying the same group of parents come here every Sunday and basically take over.

Avoid like the plague on Sundays.

The Londesborough is busy for a backstreet pub (off albion road) and has a gutsy brunch menu, especially the sunday lunches which are huge, supported by laidback sounds and clientele. The Londesborough also have great cocktails(strawberry mojito please) good DJs at weekends, playing Trip Hop to Iggy Pop with no pretence.

Ordered a ploughmans lunch at The Londesborough for £8.95. Received a lump of cheese, half an apple, a whole spring onion and two slices of bread. Couldn't have cost more than 50p. Appalled. The Londesborough is a nice place to drink though.

The Londesborough has been a great pub for some time but on my last visit things had changed. They have started to do cocktails (badly) and this has attracted a different, less pleasant crowd and you're now lucky to get served within 20 minutes on a busy night. Let's hope they see sense as it takes years to make a great bar but only weeks to ruin it.

The Londesborough is a quality local bar/pub. Funky eclectic furniture and a lot of space, with a nice terrace when the sun shines. Good, simple mezze food during the week and a more to offer for sunday brunch. Nice beers, good cocktails, nice bar staff. DJ on friday and saturday. Well worth checking out if you're in the area.
