We chose this pub as a way of saying goodbye to a group of work friends.

Most of the night was fantastic, great bunch of people, however I do feel I need to mention the shoddy reception we had from the bar staff.

Having spent a lot of the night listening to collegues complain about being short changed at the bar I was also towards the end of the night just before we were to have our last drinks.

The bar maid refused to acknowledge the amount of money I had given her and the manager refused to give me my correct change.

I was offered a free pint which was no where near the amount of money I should have had back.

Unfortunately, almost all the staff dealt with were rude. Some were very helpful, however this does not make up for the fact that the negative attitude we recieved from some took the emphasis away from why we went out for a drink in the first place.

Shame really!

Once we sat down I was not impressed with the greasy refilled tomato ketchup bottle and battered menu cards.

There was a wine price list but none for beer and wine.

My friend ordered a beer and received a Leff Blanc at £3.80 (its one of thoes restaurant where all the extras ramp up the bill like a Ryan Air flight.

The food was a grease-fest. My friend ordered a lasagna (£7.50)which had way too much cheap cheese and was a heart-attack on a plate.

I ordered scampie and chips at £7 as I was avoiding the majority of the menu which was very expensive £9.50 for a frozen pie anyone?

My food arrived in a bamboo basket, and there were a six peices of scampie and a stingy serving of chips that had the acrid smell of fat that has been reused over and over again.

A service charge was added yet they keept the tip box open on the receipt.

Any restaurant that does this does not respect it customers.

In all £25.30 for a very disappointing lunch

A great place to go for post-work drinks. I'd walked past this place for months before I first went inside but its perfect for a glass of wine and some nibbles after work.

The Long Acre isn't drastically different to the Bar 38 that was there before, but it's different enough to make it a better place to go overall.

The staff at The Long Acre have also got the right balance between attentiveness and non-obtrusiveness, which is always a plus at these kinds of bars.

The Long Acre is just the perfect pub to go to in London, it's so accessible and the people inside are so friendly and happy to help. If you like pubs and nice people, try the Long Acre.
