Truely great pub! have visited a few times now and love the food (the menu is fantastic and at great prices), atmosphere is great, whether it is a match day at Lord's or not and the staff are so helpful.
So many changes for the better. I will be back soon to try out some more guest ales!

Went to the 'newly refrbished' Lord's Tavern last weekend with family and friends. The food is some of the best I have tasted in a very long time - simple English fare - and the atmosphere was great. Staff seem friendly ad are extremely efficient and it appears to have changed for the better. I will certainly be going back. Friends tell me that the Sunday roast is not to be missed.

Several months ago I entered the Lord’s Tavern to watch a Champions League Semi-Final on TV. I had previously called earlier that day enquiring as to whether the game would be shown or not, and was assured it would be. As kick-off was commencing I asked why the game was not on and was told by the South African girl who I had spoken on the phone to, that they would not be showing it, I then pleaded that I had called earlier today and been told it would be shown, to which I was rudely and aggressively replied to by the manager with him saying it’s his pub and it would not be shown and that was final. As can be expected I was outraged and disputed the fact that I had been promised the game would be shown, purchased drinks under that impression, but he then rudely informed me I would have to pretty much “like it or lump it” because he was the “governor”, as he so kindly put it, and what he said goes. I was rather intimidated and shocked that a man could talk to a woman in such an aggressive manner, so I left the establishment.
I then made a complaint to the MCC about the manager’s rude and aggressive etiquette, but when I recently passed by there the same manager was in place, so I assume like much else at the MCC it was swept under the carpet.
In conclusion if you would like to go to a place with a friendly atmosphere and welcoming staff, this is not the place for you. However, if you would like to be approached in a threatening manner and treated like a second class citizen, you may well enjoy it here. I however did not.
I went along with a friend yesterday around 4.30 p.m, only to find signs displaying
"closed for private function" This is not the first time, and indeed, seems to be happening more and more. This is supposed to be a PUBLIC HOUSE, but they open and close when it suits them, and not their customers, I will not be rushing back!
