I really like the Maid - it's a small but nice place with a good mix of traditional and new touches. The atmosphere is buzzy (depending on the day and time), and friendly. There's a good selection of drinks and I've always found the service to be good.

I don't rate the food though - I've had a steak sandwich which was really nice, but on the small side and overpriced, and they really need to sort out the Sunday lunches because my yorkshire pudding was burnt, the vegetables were rock hard, and the roast potatoes were soggy.

I LOVE the maid! Staff are friendly and the food is great. I once lost a bag of tulip bulbs there (don't ask) and weeks later one of the staff recognised me and handed them back to me as they had found them after I left and had been keeping them for me! Their burgers are some of the best in North London and it's definately the best pub in all of Muswell Hill.

I have been going to the Maid of Muswell for quite a few years. On Saturday we decided to go for something to eat in the garden. The food was horrendous. Cold sausages and lumpy mash and the burger was completely dry and the bun rock hard. Very disappointing. Would not recommend to go there for food. Drinks only!

I disagree with the last review - I thought The Maid of Muswell was a brilliant venue. We had an absolute blast at this place and everyone we met was lovely!

The Maid of Muswell does very good, simple pub style grub. It is hearty and just the thing for the imminent winter cold. The pub is very warm and welcoming and the staff at the Maid of Muswell are really nice too.

The Maid of Muswell is a bit of an old mans pub that pretends to be a gastro pub. Their food is okay for a pub, but it's not all that. The staff at The Maid of Muswell are friendly enough too, but I wouldn't say it was the most professional type of estbalishment in the world. I only give it a three because I think it is very average.
