We visited on the 26th February and found the place totally welcoming and friendly...... althought the place was busy the service was quick and the food was really nice.... We can only think the previous review was on a very busy day as we have found in the past on popping in that the place is full to capacity and we could not get a table.... we are finally happy to have experienced the Noble and wish all the staff good look in the future and look forward to eating there again.
This used to be a wonderful local (we live opposite) but the new landlord is amongst the rudest men I have encountered in the service industry. We went in this evening (Sunday) for a quick pint. It was pretty full of people having Sunday dinners, but we were barely through the door, when he came forward and said, 'Sorry, no room." I said 'We just want a quick drink.' 'Well, you can stand at the bar, but tables are full.' Awful man. A real shame as this was a favourite, but since he has taken over service is slow and his manner is abrupt and unwelcoming. Avoid this pub and try the infinitely more welcoming Stapleton or Old Dairy down the road.
Noble is such a find. Funky music, amazingly delicious food, extremely
friendly regular customers and efficient staff. It feels like you're hanging around in some-body's living room, very comfy. I really don't understand how people keep on going to the Old Dairy as the place the atmosphere is so cold and the food is rubbish. The Noble is a place to be!
Just moved to the area and after walking past numerous times the welcoming glow of the interior proved just too much to resist. My friend had been banging on about his local for some time and i thought there was no chance of this small pub being as good as he made out. I was wrong. There is a nice range of beers and spirits here, a few i had never encountered before, and the food is fantastic. The staff i found to be very pleasent and easy on the eye, which is never a bad thing, and the owner a thoroughly charming chap. Not a hint of the rudeness the previous reviewer commeted on although i have been told of the previous co-owner who apparently left some months ago and fancied himself as a bit of a gorden ramsey with an attitude to match but thankfully he is long gone.
the theory is great, the reality disappoints. no tv screens, no gaming machines, good music but not too loud, nice mixed clientele, good food, range of beers etc... but we have had a different experience from previous reviewers. We have found the manager/landlord surly and humourless to the point of being rude. Penultimate time we were there we were told there would be a half hour wait for the sunday roast, but after an hour and a half we were told it wasn't happening and left with the resounding feeling that it was somehow our fault for being so stupid as to believe them and wait that long. Other stuff friendly and okay to be fair but have had one too many surly and unwelcoming responses from the main man... I've seen in previous reviews on other sites people complain about being charge service for a pub lunch. I don't mind having served my time working in pubs, but service charge for rudeness is not on. That said, give it a go, you may have a different experience. But for us, we can always find somewhere else to go in this area
I really like this place, discovered it about a year ago and went there a few times for food and sometimes just a beer.
Since then have moved futher north to a bigger place, now I go there more often because if we are thinking of heading out for something to eat it is close enough to make the journey home not too long and here you can eat amazing food in a relaxed atmosphere.
having just moved into the area i have visited all the local pubs to find "my local" and this is it. we went in for a drink and found that they have the best beer selection, cobra and san miguel on tap as well as addlestones hoe gaarden and leffe, after sitting down to a selection of there beers we thought we should try the very appealing tapas style menu and very glad that we did, they were fantastic. we had the whitebait a lovely chorizo dish and some balsamic glazed duck livers all fantastic finished off with a hot chocolate fondant.
staff were all very friendly not like some of the other pubs near by
just a fantastic place to spend a night
