Never have I spent about £100 in a pub and been treated so appallingly. My friend and I arrived there about 2 o’clock on a Friday afternoon and found a table which we shared with various other people throughout the course of our stay.

We had a couple of burgers and three bottles of wine which were very nice to be fair. The day shift staff were very friendly as well. Later into the evening one of the evening shift bar staff (possibly the Manager) comes along and surreptitiously slips a brown tile onto the table. I thought nothing of it because there was another identical tile already on the table with the salt and pepper on it.

About half an hour later the same guys comes along to tell everyone sitting on the table that it had been reserved and we all needed to vacate the table pointing at the tile which on closer inspection had some writing scrawled on it.

So, after a little bit of confrontation we left the table and finished our drinks standing up in the packed pub while three young ladies who the bar staff obviously knew - and most likely want to nail - moved in.

I think our treatment speaks volumes about this popular establishment.

Had a few warm up beers in here before a big night out. Nice pub, not too expensive and friendly customers.

Visited this pub for lunch with a group of 8 on a Sunday. The place has a nice atmosphere and looks good following the refurbishment. Would recommend it for a drink, however not great on the food or service. Food lacking in flavour, 2 of the mains were cold and returned to the kitchen, and all were modest portions, especially considering the price, which is around that of better quality gastro pubs in the area.

Ventured here last week for the first time since the refurb. They've done a great job, loved it - friendly, warm pub atmosphere, good food and decent wine. I'd definitely go back with girlfriends and husband going back with mates for rugby. At last a proper pub on the Northcote Road.

I went here the on a Saturday night and it was wicked.

They did table service, the staff were ridiculously friendly and it had a really relaxed atmosphere.

Much better than some of the other pubs in this area.

This used to be a decent pub. Not any more. Earlier this evening we went there and my friends got three pints of IPA. It was rank.

They took it back to the bar and the bar manager not only refused to try it but suggested they had tampered with it!

We have better things to do than tamper with full pints. His appalling attitude deserves nothing less than the boycott this pub will get from everyone I know.

I was in The Northcote for last night's Liverpool vs. Juventus match. Had a great night there - it's an excellent place to watch the footy with two big screens and at least three smaller ones.
If a smaller pub is your preference, then the Northcote should fit the bill with two areas around a central bar.
