Despite its name, The Old Blue Last is a big red fun house!

The Venue
Stood proudly on the corner where Great Eastern Street and Curtain Road meet, you cannot miss the imposing red building that is the The Old Blue Last. On the ground floor there is little to distinguish this from any other old man’s boozer besides the complete absence of old men. Upstairs, things get a lot more interesting with a poky live stage, dance floor and DJ booth. Decor on both floors is strictly traditional boozer and has taken a few knocks. There are few embellishments of note aside gig posters and a large illustrated brewery mirror that adds a nice touch.

The Atmosphere
The Old Blue Last is a lively pub both upstairs and down and you are likely to find a party crowd here any night of the week. Judging by the trendy haircuts, oh so skinny jeans and lurid outfits there are a fair amount of students scattered amongst the colourful Shoreditch crowd. Having said that, this is a friendly, attitude-free zone as people seem way more interested in their own outfits than worrying about anyone else’s. The music policy includes anything from alternative rock to minimal electronica, and upstairs the gigs depend on which achingly hip record label is running a promo night.

The Drink
You come to The Old Blue Last to have fun, not to explore your taste buds! Nonetheless there is a good selection of beers and spirits and your drink is generally served promptly with a smile.

The Last Word
It came as no surprise to learn that this place is connected to Vice Magazine; like that and you will love The Old Blue Last!
