I had a wonderful meal at the Orange last night. I was one of a loud, celebratory party of 40 or so , served by two young people who managed to be charming, courteous, attentive and efficient. We ate from the set menu and the food was super and appeared at the table hot and fresh. My starter of sardines was delicious and the chicken I chose for my main course was done perfectly...simple and straightforward but with delicious gravy and really good spring greens. Vegetables were al dente, varied and as I like them. Sadly we didn't eat until 9pm and I had to leave to catch my train before pudding arrived. It would have been champagne and orange jelly with blood orange sorbet...mmmm!
The downstairs room is nicely decorated with sofas and chairs to retreat to for aperitifs and coffee.
It is quite expensive, but I would go back for a treat...and for the blood orange sorbet!

Last night I attended a friend's birthday dinner at The Orange, which was held downstairs in the Vaults. I just wanted to let you know how impressed I was by the food and service. There must have been at least 40 of us for dinner so the staff had their work cut out, but they dealt with us very professionally and quickly. The ordering went very smoothly, despite lots of screaming and shouting by all the rowdy guests!

The food was delicious - I had the goat's cheese tart followed by the steak - please pass on my thanks to the Chef and all the kitchen staff, who were clearly rushed off their feet given the number of people in last night as well as all the front of house team, who looked after us so well.

Once again well done to all the team at The Orange for a very enjoyable and fun evening.

Great location, nice corner of London to stay in, 5 mins walk to Sloane Sqr and Kings Road.

Much more relaxing and original than the normal mega expensive mega boring hotels. Cool atmosphere, refined mature bar, cosy intimate restaurant rooms, fireplaces add a nice touch. Outside area in summer.

Top rustic gastro menu, great wood-fired pizza oven, Sunday roasts are special, English brekky was spot-on, not covered in grease, and my favourite, the boar, chorizo and mushroom stew is a smasher if you like rich meat dishes.

Great beer selection, excellent wine menu though as expected, quite pricey.

My wife, baby daughter and I stayed there for 3 nights from boxing day, and the staff were really helpful and genuinely pleasant, often helping us with carrying the stroller and luggage up and down the narrow stairs. They only have 4 rooms, so it's an inn, not a hotel. Rooms are tastefully rustic chic with good modern amenities.

It's not a bargain place to stay, but cheaper than the big hotels and a much nicer experience.

I'll be returning for all my future stays in central London, I travel a lot and like most frequent travellers am weary of the hotel chains, so this was a breath of fresh air for a major city stay.

We ate upstairs and the room was busy with people and light and airy but the decor wasn't to my taste. It is sort of pseudo rustic, wooden tables and floors but too light and dare I say it clean! The food on the other hand was very good. I started with the seared tuna - which was excellent although the crust was tad to peppery for my liking. For my main I had a slow roasted pork shoulder that had been cooked in the pizza oven over night. It was amazingly tender, as you would expect, and had a lovely earthy taste to it. The service was pretty good. I would recommend the Orange if you are around the Pimlico area or its a short walk from Sloane Square. If you want to pick up some food to take home you can always pop into Daylesfords Cafe opposite.

If you want to eat the best Sunday Roasts in London, make you way down to the Orange! Seriously! My friends and i travel from Notting Hill to the Orange every Sunday! We even make a trip there once to twice a week if we really want to have a great meal! Staff are sensational! Always friendly, well educated (they know what they are talking about when you ask about the menu) and always ready to serve! In addition to the food and service, the interior is just divine! So calming, yet classy! I could spend the whole day in there! Actually Sundays i actually do! haha! If you are wondering whether to visit! DO IT! You will not regret it! :-)

My family and I met up at The Orange for our pre-Christmas get together. The atmosphere was very warm and welcoming – the staff friendly and attentive. We shared a selection from their tasty wood-fired pizza menu accompanied by a delectable full-bodied Valpolicella. The evening was the perfect beginning to our festive celebrations.
Delighted by our first visit, we returned last week to sample their Sunday roast menu. Superb! If I lived closer I’d be back every Sunday.

Fab!! Have been there three times now to eat, for breakfast and for dinner, and several times for drinks. There is a wide choice of simple and honest food on the menu at very reasonable prices for the area, beautiful and down to earth spaces to surround yourself in and a buzzing atmosphere.

I loved the veal meatball starter, the wood fired pizzas were just divine and very easy to eat (in fact the best pizza I have had for a long time!), the baked rice pudding is something you have to try for yourself to see why it is so popular and the roast beef on Sunday was perfect. The food portions are generous so you won't go hungry on just one course but not over the top so there is always room for a starter and pudding to share at least.

Breakfasts have also been impressive - very tasty ingredients (I believe they are sourced from the local farmers market as is the rest of the menu), an interesting choice to pick from, healthy and of generous portions again. The juices are freshly made and are a great way to start the day!

The Orange is a great addition to the Cubitt House family of eateries and from what I have seen and heard, has been incredibly busy from day 1. This is not a fast food joint and don't expect to be in and out quickly when it is busy, it is a place to enjoy an evening out. Expect to wait a little bit for a table (or you can book) in their bar where you can have a drink in (wide choice of drinks to choose from again) and bar snacks to nibble on... if are you are thinking of popping down sometime soon, DO IT.

We visited last week, first and last time, slow service, staff didn't seem to be briefed on menu. flat beer was offered, food was slow in arriving 3+ hours for a 3 course meal, set menu is overpriced and the food was poorly cooked, Christmas pudding was an embarrassingly small pellet which was over cooked and resisted the cutlery. high point clean toilets.

Lovely prelaunch party, however first meal disappointing.
Sunday roast - chicken splendid however it would have gone down better served with steamed green veges as well as the roast veges. The roast parsnip and carrot were good but a bit rich without steamed greens, which should be included in the price. As it stands not a reasonalbe price for a sunday roast.
Roast potatoes were simply awful. Potatoes served roasted should be crisp on the outside and soft and fluffy inside. They had clearly been lying around the kitchen for some time.
It might also be helpful if the correct type of potato is used with roasts. No amount of duck fat will improve the incorrect potatoe.

It might also be useful to ensure that the staff know their menus. Whilst selecting my meal the waitress advised that beetroot would be served with the chicken roast. When the meal arrived it was red cabbage. Insufficient training!

Although I arrived early evening the 'house wine' which I had enjoyed at the pre launch was already out of stock and I was charged a hefty £2.00 extra for an alternative, although I had been offered it at the same price as the 'house wine.

At the end of my meal I ordered a Latte and was presented with a cappuccino. It was a lovely coffee but not what I ordered.

The staff were friendly and pleasant but not efficient. It is unhelpful if they can't get it right!

Service should not be included - this should be left to the discretion of customers.

I had hoped to use The Orange on a regular basis for myself and visitors from Europe, as well as for a forthcoming birthday party, however I am not entirely sure after the above experience that is would be suitable. Pity, as I had high hopes for The Orange when it opened, as I love the decor.

Could do a lot better!
