The ViewLondon Review
The Packhorse and Talbot is a solid choice, despite the horrible pub carpet.
The Venue
The aforementioned carpet notwithstanding, The Packhorse and Talbot is a fairly average local boozer. It's a big space, although not very imaginatively broken up with booths, tables and sofas. There is also an enclosed garden and a largeish dining area.
The Atmosphere
The Packhorse and Talbot represents the younger, less-affluent demographic of Chiswick. It is quiet during the week and busier on weekends. They play some good tunes and the staff behind the bar are nice; it is pleasant without being spectacular in any way.
The Food
Two-for-one meals seem to draw them in. There is a good choice of food, which includes full meals, snacks and even breakfast. The prices are reasonable with most entrees well under 10 pounds.
The Drink
The Packhorse and Talbot has a very good wine list representing several continents (both new world and old) in their good value selections. They even have a range of sparkling wines and champagnes. For the ale lover, there is a rotating Guest Ale, which offers good choices and excellent prices.
The Last Word
Like a packhorse, she is good sturdy choice: she won't win any races but offers good value on food and beverage.
