Whilst the other 2 reviews to sum it up nicely; they did omit the fact that in my opinion, it has one of the best pints in the City. I enjoyed great pints of enjoyed Redemption and Woodfordes in addition to the earlier 2 mentioned. All where spot on. Well deserving it's continued listing in the CamRa Good Beer Guide.

I also discovered another plus side, it is open long after many places in the area are closed, I ending up leaving at around half past midnight!

It is a great shame there is no food available though, I was starving by the time I got home.

The Peacock is a bit of a hidden treasure within the City mile, from the outside it could look like a poor mans pub but once inside the atmosphere on a Friday is nothing short of fantastic and pumpingit hosts familiar amenities such as a dart board and pool table but what really puts this aside from other Pubs is the "juke box", a rare and valuable commodity to have. It ensures that the locals are able to feel like they really are in their local but without having to actually Commute home for it, and lets be honest who wants to wait a hour on the train on a Friday night to get a beer with their Mates and listen to Oasis or Dizzy!

The staff are very Northern but doesn't make them bad people and they have brought their expertise down south and coined the Peacocks very own and very Special Shots, The North sea Gas and its stronger brother The North Sea Oil - a Joy and an Experiencein Short Go there

The Peacock is a good old fashioned English pub. The people are mostly locals and the beer is good. They have a pool table and you can enter the competitions if you want. I like the staff at The Peacock, they will have a yarn when they're not too busy.
