I'm not sure about the other reviewer, maybe it was an isolated incident, but I've always had wonderful experiences at the Plough. I go with my wife and 1.5 year old son, and they love it too. There's a play area in the back for kids, and it's very family friendly, but it's a big place and there's plenty of grown-up only areas too. The food is excellent and the drink menu is quite extensive. My wife had the pork roast and I had a burger and they were top notch and the staff were very friendly and patient with our son. I've been back several times and everyone always seems to be having a good time there, so it's hard not to get caught up in the good spirits. Plus they have live jazz and bands, quiz nights, barbecues in the summer, and lots of other fun events. It's the place I take my family and friends to when they ask "Where's a good place to go out for dinner?"
I went to the Plough Inn for a Sunday evening meal with my thirteen year old daughter.
Service was appalling - had to wait half an hour for the waitress to come and take our order. First course came quickly but then waited for nearly an hour for the main course. When I asked about it, it transpired that the order had not been put through to the kitchen.
Once food came my daughter's burger was good but my ham and cabbage pie can only be described as a salty mush- one of the worst pies I have ever tasted. Main course prices were knocked off the bill but I would much have preferred a nice meal with good service.
Beer as always was good!!
