have eaten here twice, and will be back again. Fabulous food, excellent service. Wonderful ambiance, true gem. Superb wine list, extremely knowledgeable - staff star food and service.
Had a wonderful meal here with friends recently. The service was truly outstanding and our waitress deserves particular praise. The food was every bit as good as the TimeOut award would suggest and we all left feeling very happy. My seabass on gazpacho went down very well considering the heat outside and each of my friends raved about their dishes, especially the desserts! Decor is also worth noting...both bar and dining room are really well fitted out.
Nice name of the resturaunt. X
The Princess is a let down. At certain times of the day you are not allowed to sit on the tables unless you are going to eat. This is a pub isn't it? It should be relaxed and you should be given the choice, the truth is that you may sit at a table for a drink and order a food after a while, but here is not possible. The food they serve is minimal! Not what you want from a gastro pub. Stay away from the cheese board! It's just a board with grapes, apricots and three ridiculous pieces of cheese! You get more fruit on the board than cheese! It's shocking!
Great place with good food and service. Nicely fitted out with comfortable tables and chairs, an enormous bar with loads of whisky and great vintage lighting.
Food was well presented, well cooked and tasted amazing. Portion size about right.
Service came with a smile and was welcoming.
Not the cheapest night out but good value non the less.
Good decor with a very nice vibe (The Princess is pretty much always busy), the staff are friendly and helpful and the food top notch! Definitely the best gastropub in the area!!
I had my 40th birthday with friends at The Princess and all of us had the most pleasurable evening (some were French and very snobby and they had nothing but good things to say!).
The dining room was cosy and well decorated, the staff delightful and the food tasty, well presented and good value.
I wouldn't hesitate for a second to recommend The Princess to anyone.
Totally agree with Su, although I ate upstairs. Found the service really attentive and friendly and thought it was really good value for money. I had the smoked salmon roulade with elderflower sauce for starter and my boyfriend had the foie gras parfait and both were really good. He had pork belly and I had the lamb and it was so tasty and tender. Really cannot recommend their lemon tart enough either. Had a nice bottle of red wine with our food and the bill came to just under £85. Well worth a visit.
