nice venue, cool Gothic decor.
music was a mix of alternative and normal rock that night, and although not usually my sort of music, was very impressed by hessian rose, and perfect idiots were good fun.

INCESTUOUS at The Purple Turtle

Sunday 28th June 2009

What an amazing night....! From the moment we arrived we knew that this would be a great night.

Headlining the show was Global Citizen, mean, moody, almost perverse industrial goth electro...a really impressive act with charisma and attitude.

...But first we had a relative newcomer to the gothic industrial scene... from Birmingham, 'Johnny Normal' opened the show.

These two guys (synths, percussion and guitar) introduced themselves as the cannon fodder (nice touch!) and immediately fired off a fantastic set of synthetic post-punk songs with style, attitude and wry humour.

It was like watching Jarvis Cocker on synths, with The Edge on guitar playing songs that could have been written by Numan and Adam Ant...very appealing and infectious flavour.

Stafford's 'Flesh Eating Foundation' followed and their blood stained white office worker look seemed to be a hit with the crowd of sexy black-clad 30-somethings.

An alter-ego act with brash clashy synths and heavy guitar combined with shrieky shouty vocals...interesting!

Natsumi Scarlett provided a beautifully choreographed Burlesque routine that had the audience huddling together t o get a good view...an enchanting lady with some style and presence. Nice.

Maleficent took to the stage and , boy, the lead singer Martini looked great...and sounded even better.

This girl will go far... a cross between Lady Gaga and No Doubt with a razor sharp cutting edge and hard backing band. A creative mix of metal, grunge and some classical overtones...very cool.

Must see again. Global Citizen were the final act and the crowd really appreciated them. A strong, confident performance and some heavy, Numan influenced material with anthemic synths and throbbing basslines.

Atmospheric fantasy indulgence...just what I like on a Sunday night. The

I have to say that I didn’t pick the best night to go to the Purple Turtle as it was heavy metal night, but we gave it a go anyway. I don’t think that I have ever seen so much hair and pvc in all my life, and that was just the men. The beer was served in plastic beakers and the head bangers had such an attitude that no one understands and they really weren’t the friendliest of people.

The Purple Turtle itself was really bad as the floor was filthy and there were holes in the chairs. It looked like it could do with a good clean. The irony is that this review will seem like a positive comment to the normal crowd this place attracts!

My friends and I were having a lovely night in Camden and decided to pop to The Purple Turtle to see a band. The bouncer was seriously rude, and told us to stay at the door while he IDd one of my friends.

All of us are in our 20s and were a little annoyed, especially by the way he grabbed us and dragged us out of the way. There were also a few snotty idiots wdecided to start trouble in there. I won't be going to The Purple Turtle again.

What a dump The Purple Turtle is. Full of wierdos and very over priced. The bouncer was exceptionally rude.

The Purple Turtle is a big bar that gets really heaving at the weekends. The DJs are really good and the Purple Turtle is the perfect venue to enjoy a couple of cocktails. The crowd has a retro/vintage look that fits in with the cool decor.

The Purple Turtle has got a plasticy look to it but is a good music venue. Have seen a couple of good hard core rock gigs there but wouldn't go there for any other reason. The drinks are expensive and the crowd can be full on.
