I used to, until last night go to this pub on a weekly basis.
The food is ok, but the pub itself has always had a nice atmosphere and good bar staff.

However, last night, as I found out, do not ever complain over a warm beer for example. You will be rudely spoken to, not only by the member of staff behind the bar, but also by the manager. A refund was offered, but no replacement and no apology for the foul language used. Do not get on the wrong side of the staff; it makes for an unpleasant evening!

Nice venue, shame about the staff.

I've been here a few times and twice I've come across an intolerable staff member who behaved as though I'd insulted their mum. The first time I put it down to a bad day or something - I didn't want to write-off the place straight away - but the next time it was even worse. My girlfriend and I went there for a quiet drink and a snack, didn't cause any trouble, and yet we were confronted with a sour-faced witch (not the word I'd like to use, but there you go) who took it upon herself to make us as uncomfortable as possible. I would've been annoyed had I not been amused by how ridiculous it was to see someone so socially inept in a position where they deal with the public all day. It's a shame because it's a nice looking place with some nice touches, like the candles on the table when it gets dark, but I won't be going back after those bad experiences.
