Used The Raven a few years ago for company events and to meet local friends/colleagues and always had a good results so went with 4 colleagues 28 Oct with this in mind and ordered a bottle of Chardonnay, 4 bottles of mineral water and a portion of chips from the friendly young bar man to start. One of my colleagues initially tasted the Chardonnay and complained it tasted akin to vinegar, which I agreed and she went to the bar with the bottle to complain. The older man at the bar wearing flip flops knew she had a complaint and kept her waiting at the bar where I joined her and he eventually came over. After explaining the situation and receiving nothing but negative responses with a rude and blasé attitude and also pretending he couldn't hear us, so we had to continually repeat, he finally said 'it's cheap what do you expect' (15.99). We then asked to speak to the Manager whereupon he informed us he was the Manager (Sean). He then tried to charge us for another bottle of wine while keeping the Chardonnay so we took the bottle back on principal. At no time did he apologise, taste the wine or try to resolve the issue but was extremely rude throughout. Never met such an appallingly unqualified so called Manager hence this complaint/review.
The only positive note was that the chips were good and the young bar staff friendly.

The Raven have great burgers, although they served me roast potatoes as they had run out of chips...staff were very apologetic and couldn't do enough for us though! There was a great atmosphere and I love the open fires at The Raven!

The Raven is a great local to visit. They do excellent food and the Sunday roast is a must. The Raven has fit barmaids, not the usual fat ones most places have. The Raven has a great atmosphere and gets busy in the evenings.
