The staff are extremely rude. As soon as we arrived (at 9:20 pm) the staff made us stand outside in the freezing cold for an hour. We were yelled at to stand against the glass wall and not to move out of line. Finally when we were allowed inside the place was super cold and empty. Bad music and not much of a dance floor. Decor was nice but really couldn't make up for the horrible staff. It felt more like a military camp rather than a club. Will not be going back....EVER!
Fantastic night out! Recently celebrated my 30th birthday here with friends. Really helpful staff organising the club night and a very reasonably £50 to reserve a table, which was given back to me as a credit against drinks at the bar.
Highly recommended! Great night out if you love a bit of old skool RnB with a good crowd with no attitude!
Went for lunch on a busy Friday, the food was good, place is very designer chic. However, the staff seem to have been hired for their looks alone, the service was unfriendly and very slow, we waited 20 mins just to order and that was before it got busy. Not surprised to see other similar comments on here and I won't be wasting my lunchtime again.
Worst experience in a restaurant yet!
The service was shocking!
*Was in the restaurant 20 mins before we all had menus.
*The drinks were ordered at the same time as the food and came after it had arrived.
*We had no cutlery when the food arrived, and had to take this from other tables as our server seemed unable to do so.
*2 of 7 meals arrived so late that others in the party had already finished their meals.
The food was not up to the expected standard.
*4 of 7 meals were cold. The pasta that was sent back had obviously been microwaved.
*The “fish” pie had no fish in it. And was cold at the bottom
The refinery has a great atmosphere but unfortunately this was ruined by the lack of heating and the candle wax which leaked through the table onto my boots.
I went here for my work Christmas party last week and was really disappointed. We were supposed to sit down for food at 5.00pm but they were running late and we didn't actually sit down until 6.20; and it took quite a bit longer to serve our food after that. All 60 of us were squeezed into a small area so much so that I couldn't actually bend my elbows to eat my food! Whilst the quality of the food was good, the portion sizes were very menial. I typically have a small appetite and I wasn't full after my three course meal! There was very loud dance type music playing throughout the bar which felt inappropriate for an early evening dinner and meant that I couldn't hear most of my colleagues around me. The staff were too busy to offer a good or personable service but did their best in the circumstances. Definately won't be rushing back here, which is a shame as its very close to where I work.
THE WORST PLACE EVER. DO NOT COME HERE. We came for a 30th birthday (am actually writing this from the venue). Firstly we had a booking for 7.30 and had plans for dinner and drinks. We were told at 7.45 that the kitchen was closing at 8.00. Just before 8.00 we went to order food and were told the kitchen was already closed. After arguing with the cocky and rude bar staff we finally were granted the pleasure of food. At 9.10 we went to order drinks and were told the bar was closed until 10.00. We then sat and watched another 15 people get served. We went back to the bar to complain and try and get drinks and were told the bar was closed. I then questioned the bar staff and was treated as though I was an utter idiot. The only reason we didn't leave at this point is because we had a £50 deposit we couldn't get back until the bar reopened!!!!! We then were told that we had to move tables, despite having a reservation and were FINALLY moved to a table that didn't have enough chairs and was near the door which meant every time someone came in we froze. ABSOLUTE SHIY. RUINED A 30th birthday. DON'T EVER COME HERE.
Went there for the first time last week-end. Bar looks great, music was awesome but the door staff... I don't think some businesses have heard about first impressions... They were beyond rude, I haven't experienced anything like it before, we all felt like prisoners being ordered around by prison wardens... And that was just waiting in the queue! Let alone when you reach the door... Basically we felt they were doing us a favour by letting us in when we are the paying customers!
Despite to cool atmsophere inside and the fab music, I must admit that the behaviour of the staff at the entrance really put me off spending my evening & money there.
I will simply never return, there are already so many nice venues in London with great djs and where customers are treatly kindly that I find no need for me to ever have to go through this "jail like" experience just to get in!
Whilst I was worried that I wouldnt find this club, once I reached the venue it was a pleasant surprise to find an welcoming atmosphere and great staff to make us feel comfortable.
I was in contact with London Groove before the evening who were very accommodating and when my party and I arrived everything was done to make sure that we had a fantastic evening.
And we did! Great music, a lovely friendly club and very clean facilities. The only thing that anyone found to comment on was the fact that there were no bar snacks!
A great time was had by all of my lovely friends and some of them are even talking of a return to The Refinery very soon.
Many thanks to all.
