Positioned in a desirable location just off The Strand, The Silver Cross brings a little bit of affordability to an otherwise pricey area.

The Venue
The Silver Cross is situated just off The Strand, in the heart of London’s busy West End. A fairly traditional pub in its appearance there's a large area dedicated to tables for drinking and dining. Surrounding you are sepia photos and nostalgic prints interspersed with copper pots and pans. There is also a dining area downstairs for larger groups and parties.

The Atmosphere
With pleasant chart music playing and plenty to look at, The Silver Cross is a nice place to pop in for a swift half. Popular with tourists and local workers alike, it gets very busy at peak times with a crush at the bar, although the friendly staff manage to keep the crowds under control(ish).

The Food
The usual pub food is available at The Silver Cross, which proves to be popular with the punters; a list of daily specials is chalked on a large board for all to see. Starters cost from £3.75, and a main dish of sausages, mash and red onion gravy will set you back £7.99. For something less filling you could order a sandwich or jacket potato – all for under £5.00. If you have any room left for dessert, these range from £3.50-£4.00, including a low fat option for a guilt free treat.

The Drink
With a decent choice of draught and bottled beers available, you won’t be disappointed. There is also a variety of wines ranging from £3.05-£4.65 a glass or £11.65-£21.50 a bottle, which is really reasonable for the area. If you’re celebrating, Champagne and sparkling wine is sold at £10.20 for a bottle of Lanson NV Champagne or £45.00 for Verve Clicquot Brut NV.

There are also an interesting choice of long drinks available. Pimms is popular during the summer months, costing £4.25 a glass or £14.95 a jug, alongside a menu of cocktails – be sure to try the refreshing Smirnoff Moscow Muk for £4.95.

The Last Word
The Silver Cross is a large, airy venue with a great choice of drinks and tasty pub grub at affordable prices. Well worth a visit.
