I really liked the soho. It was so fun and there was a nice crowd. Its one of the cheaper soho haunts, but it doesn't attract an uncomfortable crowd. Its really relaxed. We were on a hen night and my sister came out with but she is pregnant so couldn't drink, but the bar staff made her a lovely non alcoholic cocktail so she didn't feel left out. The managers made us feel more than comftortable, ensuring we got a seat as soon as on became available. Its is dark in there, but all in all the music was fun and the staff made our night really good. Thanks guys at the soho
The Soho is so forgiving, with its wonderful staff you forget about the crowded, narrow corridors and awkward lighting.
So instead you think of it as a snug, warm and for those relying on the cocktails to give them the courage to interact...an excuse for someone to brush past you and get talking.
However, if you're looking for privacy then the cave-like booths are a perfect spot to chill and relax.
The DJs are excellent, allowing requests and matching the music to the crowd...spot on! I can also confirm that the toilets are clean with once again great staff!
Last of all, the drinks are the best! The barman will always customise it to your tastebuds and the prices are bearable. What more can I say?
This intimate bar in the heart of Soho is such a great place to go out with a few mates. It has a nice atmospere, the staff are so friendly and the drinks are cheap! We had a great night out and would definitely go back again! Thanks, The Soho.
What a shame that this nice venue is let down by its awful staff and business ethics. I booked an area in The Soho six weeks in advance by going in and speaking to the bar manager, told her that there would be about 100 people attending and that we would like to have guest list all night so that late comers could get in ok. She even said we could have free entry. The booking was later confirmed by email...twice.
Well the day of the party rolls around. First of all we get to The Soho (on time) only to find our fairly large reserved area reserved by nothing more then a small bit of paper with Reserved written on it, which obviously had been ignored. The bar manager's response was that it wasn't their problem.
Around 10.30pm they decided to stop letting people in and when we asked if they could let our guests in, as was previously agreed, the bar manager went on a rant about how it was their fault they were late and we hadn't given her enough notice (is 6 weeks not enough?) and that we should have organised our guests better. She refused to let anyone else in, including my brother, finally threatening to throw me out because I dared to question her bar management skills!
In short The Soho has very rude staff with massive chips on both shoulders, do not book a party there! On the other hand if you just want a cool little venue for a drink, you could do worse.
I love the Soho, its open late night, has wicked cocktails and I really like their sofas, very nice to have a rest on after one too many! I'd recommend the Soho to anyone wanting to stay out late in a bar setting, open till 3.00am.
The Soho is a fantastic little venue with great happy hour prices. So it's a shame about the service. I went there for the first time last week with 2 friends. We arrived at 6pm on a Wednesday evening which is about when it started to fill up rapidly. The service was quite slow with only 2-3 people serving and cocktails take a lot longer to make. After a while we went to order some food from them. They had another list behind the bar of what was actually available. Only 1 of our 3 requests were available. So we ordered the Chicken Satay Skewers. 35mins later I went to check on them but they had no clue and said it was coming. In the meantime we were apparently sitting in a reserved area although there was no sign despite the waiter saying there was. The place was empty when we arrived. About 10 people turned up expecting to sit where we were which was fine as they had booked it. This was poorly handled and the manager was nowhere to be found. They screwed up and we paid the price. We complained about our skewers which were now 45mins late but ended up getting a refund and leaving the place since there was nowhere else to sit by then anyway. I don't recall it being smokey compared to say, Gordon's, which was nice. So get there early if you go at all. I'll be checking every so often to see if service has improved.
The Soho is a good venue although the placing of the bar in such a small place meant that although we started queuing for drinks half an hour before the end of happy hour we were still not served until after happy hour had ended!
But after the end of happy hour when things thinned down a little it was much better and the drinks were good quality and very reasonably priced.
The staff were all friendly and good at making cocktails and conversation!
A very good venue, all my friends were impressed and I'm sure that we will be back again - I loved the strawberry caipirina's and at £4.50 for such a
lovely cocktail in the centre of london you certainly can't complain! They also make a wicked mojito there too which is a rare treat. The red Merlot
Cabernet was great value at £12.50 and that wasn't even the house red. All in all 10 out of 10!
