The ViewLondon Review
Tucked under its mother restaurant Viktor, V Bar is a melange of antique furniture, sultry colours and world beats. The VenueTextures and layering are intelligently combined in fabrics including velvets and silks, paints and handmade paper, continuing from the raised long bar to the large, basement window overlooking the voluptuous, uplit plants beyond.
The AtmosphereThe ambience is sophisticated and sexy; equally adaptable to hard partying or hushed conversations. Aubergine, burnt oranges, strong pinks, dark stained wood and warm lighting complement period sofas and chairs decorated with opulent scatter cushions in a grown up setting with the highest attention to detail.
The FoodSushi, sashimi and other Japanese snacks can be grazed upon, but most people head to V Bar for the extensive cocktail list.
The DrinkThe cocktail menu is extensive and rich, combining Oriental flavouring and ingredients with concoctions inspired by the native Russia of the mother and daughter team behind the venue.
With a clearly defined emphasis on fruits, many of which include rare but punchy ingredients such as kiwi puree, blood orange juice, rosewater syrup and lychee liqeur, these are delicately lethal. There are four varieties of sake to choose between and anyone looking to minimise their hangover might consider swapping vodka for one of the two house shochus.
The Last WordV Bar is a good place for creative drinks and sushi. Stop by before or after you check out the restaurant, or just on its own.
