The ViewLondon Review
Probably smaller than your living room, The Victoria Inn’s diminutive size doesn’t stop it from creating a big impact.
The Venue
The Victoria Inn is wonderfully quaint. The exterior mainly features a large period window with a few outdoor lamps and a hanging sign protruding from the front of the building. It resembles something out of a Dickens classic. Inside, you’ll probably be surprised at just how tiny this little pub is, with the bar taking up much of the room, a few stools, tables and chairs and a fireplace. There is a beer garden out the back, but this is even smaller than the pub itself. Still, in some ways this works to the pub’s advantage and on a cold winter’s evening it’s a pleasant and cosy refuge from the chill outside.
The Atmosphere
The Victoria Inn can’t help but make you feel secreted away, such is its diminutive size. Luckily, the staff are incredibly welcoming and friendly and if you show an interest and knowledge of beer they’ll happily compare notes with you about your finest ale-drinking times. This is mainly a local's pub with a few in-the-know outsiders popping in and keeping the secret firmly to themselves.
The Drink
Richmond must have one of the highest concentrations of Cask Marque accredited pubs in London. Yup, the Victoria Inn is another example of a pub that values its ales and keeps its pipes very clean. They have three ales on at any one time, including Hobgoblin, Young’s Ordinary and Doom Bar, and the prices are very cheap for the area – you’ll struggle to pay more than £3 a pint here.
The Last Word
The Victoria Inn could easily have suffered from its distinct lack of space. Instead, they have turned it to their advantage and made this a quaint winter warmer.
