Always liked this pub until I went in the other day and I was told to take my beanie off as they have a no hats policy! Need I say more?

Went there for a Birthday part last Saturday.
Had Amazing time the bar was extremely busy, which just created
the Saturday party atmosphere ; )
The staff was down to earth and really friendly.
I pre-ordered my buffet food so once i got there it was on the table plus some bubbly as well.
So no rush or stress, while we were enjoying our bubbly we ordered our cocktails so no waiting for those as i already had my bubbly in my hand and nibbles on the table.
Thanks to the friendly staff and the venue, they made my special day even more special. Coming back soon ; )

Avoid this place if possible, far better spending another 10 minutes walking further down Upper Street and enjoying one of the other bars/restaurants where the staff care and offer a full service.

Went in here on a Sunday afternoon and at least half the menu was not on offer with only Salmon and Steak available in addition to the Sunday roast. Quicker they realise everyone doesn't want to have a roast dinner at Sunday lunchtime the better, probably explains why the place was half empty and the rest of the street packed!

The Vineyard is located in a great part of Islington and due to the size of the pub is great for larger parties. There are a few points that management really should sort out because the venue is being let down by poor decisions. They often double book or won't confirm a booking until the last minute; I believe this is just in case another bigger party turn up. I recently booked a table and when phoning back to confirm and pay the deposit, I was told that the venue was booked for a another party and we wouldn't be able to use the venue between 4 and 8:30, why I couldn't be told this last week when I first enquired only suggests to me that they were holding out for a better event that might be booked through the Party At The Pub website. The bar also has very poor selection of food for the price they charge, I would highly recommend going to one of the many great restaurants in Upper Street if you’re hungry. Also be careful of the bad mobile phone signal that the bar has if you're waiting for a call check your phone regularly at the front of the bar where the reception is better.

I don't normally write reviews but after booking The Vineyard for a triple 30th bash I felt that I had to let people know what a great venue it is!

Located near Highbury & Islington tube at the top end of Upper Street, The Vineyard is a chilled out, unpretentious bar with funky decor, lovely staff and reasonably priced drinks. It also has a nice beer garden out the front which looks really pretty lit up at night.

When researching a venue for our joint 30th party, my friends and I found it really hard to find a venue which played fairly cheesey tunes, didn't charge top dollar to reserve an area, wasn't pretentious and wasn't going to be really hot, sticky and crowded on a Saturday night. The Vineyard totally came up trumps! For a small refundable deposit we were able to reserve a decent sized area for 60 people and they even played some of our song choices!

Highly recommend this venue and hope it doesn't change its fresh, unpretentious style.

I organised a work Christmas party at this venue for 30 people on 16/12/11. The overall experience offered on the night can only be described as pathetic and derisory. I’ll start on a plus point the staff in general were friendly and relatively well organised in the run up to do. On the night itself the bar staff were mostly friendly.

The real gripe concerns the food. We paid in total £450 (or £15 a head) for a buffet that effectively looked liked they had popped to the nearest low rent supermarket with £50. It was essentially pop in the oven frozen food.

If the quality of the food was bad enough, several promised items were omitted from the buffet such as wasabi spiked tempura vegetables, mini beef burger bites or home made potato wedges. Thai fish cakes were replaced with bog standard fish cakes clearly heavily processed non-descript gunge and without the promised Thai dipping sauce. If the level of food was not insulting enough they compounded this by providing enough to feed perhaps 10-15 people not the 30 in attendance. Late comers to the party had to go without. The staff said they would enquire about providing more food when we complained but nothing materialised.

There was also one exception to the friendly staff. When a colleague ordered a cocktail during happy hour the barmen neglected to tell her that an offer was on and took her £7.50 happily for 1 drink. When she realised this, all of 1 minutes after ordering and without even sipping her drink she asked if the barmen if he would give her another drink to honour the offer seeing as he neglected to tell her. The bar man refused and when she enquired about speaking to the manager was told rudely that she was talking to the assistant manager and he wouldn’t be giving her the drink. So much for professional courtesy!

After this experience I will not be visiting this venue again or recommending it to anyone especially if you are organising an event.

I went to the vineyard with couple of my friends on Wednesday night. They had some kind of a charity party. I must say it was pretty cool. They were selling some amazing cupcakes, had a lady doing manicure and a DJ as well. It wasn’t super busy but the atmosphere was cool. We ordered few food platters and had jugs of pimm’s. Overall a very good night. We will definitely be back ( for more cupcakes)

The staff are absolute jobs worths.

The conversation went like this:
“May I order some food”
“I’m sorry the kitchen is closed”
“May I just buy some bread”
“I’m sorry the chef has gone home so we can’t cut it”
“That’s fine I can just have the bread role unsliced”
“I’m not allowed to get food from the kitchen and I don’t know where the bread is”.

After spending 3 hours in their pub drinking – I was very hungry and all I wanted was a bit of bread.
The jobs worth ***** behind the bar was too lazy to just go into the kitchen and find me a some bread which I was happy to pay £2.50 for.
She couldn’t even use the excuse that they were too busy, because the three other bar staff didn’t exactly have their hands full with the two people at the bar.

I would not recommend this bar.

The worst meal out we've had in 6 years in London. Truly terrible. If you like stale, overcooked food with added gristle, then this is the place for you! We certainly won't be returning, nor will the family at the table next to us, who also sent their food back. It's a pity, as the decor, and bar staff could not have been any nicer.

We met friends in here at the weekend for an informal lunch. The staff are really friendly and chatty. The decor's really nice and the toilets were clean. Only reason why I'm giving 3 stars and not 4 is because the first time we tried to order food we were told that the kitchen was too busy with orders and that we would have to wait 30 mins before ordering. We were all puzzled because the pub was rather empty. We went back up to order and 2 of the dishes we wanted had sold out (by 1445). The meat burgers were nice and the mushroom burger was very average. A bit of side salad would have been nice with the burgers. This is a good pub but I think better standard of food could make it 4 or 5 stars.

Cheap and chavvy. The pub quiz is all about ITV and Coronation Street. The food is microwaved.

one of the better bars along upper street. Go in there when I'm in the area. Staff are really friendly and helpful. Manageress is great and I agree with former reviews she is a hoot!!!! Shame about the smelly toilets though. Something that I was assured was going to be addressed in their up coming refurb. If you love sports, music and a relaxed atmosphere you can't go wrong here.
