This pub has the most beautiful assistant assiatant manager I have ever met. Dan
The White Hart is reportedly the oldest licensed premise in London – well it’s emblazoned all over the wall at any rate. However, for those of you hungry for some kind of dark, low ceiling, oaken cavern affair (think Nottinghams ‘Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem’) you will be sadly disappointed. Instead there’s a long white bar which has a collage cut out of ‘familiar faces’ plastered along the back, similar to how a 17 year old girl might adorn her bedroom with a photo montage of last summer’s holiday, with six form pals, to Greece. In fact this is no old rustic vision of London post-fire of London, instead the pub resembles its clientele; modern and lively.
The pint is a disappointedly limited selection of London Pride at £2.90. Under three of your English pounds you say, but put to shame given the £1.83 you’ll pay at any of the Samuel Smith pubs that litter the Holborn area.
Music was rock, pop including some epics: Thin Lizzie’s ‘Whiskey in the Jar O’ and ‘My name is Luca, I live on the second floor’.
Interestingly enough the white hart is the fifth most popular name for a pub, according to Wiki, and a white hart (hart means stage by the way) was the personal badge of Richard the II, one of the rubbishest kings of all time.
I stumbled across this pub on the weekend, we had lunch. The food was great, it was fresh and tasty. I would go back for the food again. Its a shame the law wont allow them to restore the pub to how it was orginally.
The White Hart is a fanatsic little pub full of character and with a great friendly atmosphere! The staff are are extremely friendly and helpful, and the manager is a hotty! With great food, music and wine, The White Hart makes a winning combination!
Unfortunately our visit to this branch of the White Hart was bitterly disappointing. It appeared the taps had either not been cleaned in some time, or not cleaned properly as everything on tap tasted horrendous.
We then thought we'd try something bottled, only to have half of it removed by an over zealous bus boy. Overall, it was a very disappointing visit to The White Hart.
The White Hart has beautiful decor and raesonably cheap food of the baguette and chips variety.
Friendly atmosphere, kids welcome in eating area. Live Jazz Monday and Tuesday nights, some of the nicest barstaff in London. Homemade food reasonably priced.
