I had my 40th birthday party in the main section of this pub. There was no heating and my guests stood around wearing their jackets. When I complained a few days later, the manager's attitude was terrible. His assistant manager is a liar and just fed be rubbish excuses all night. The boiler had been broken several hours that afternoon and they failed to inform me, I could at least get some heaters from home. Many elderly relatives did not leave their hotel. The icing on the cake was when the chef was found cleaning out the toilet that had flooded! Never go to this pub.
Good food, friendly staff, good selection of drinks, if you are looking for a quiet Friday night drink, avoid like the plague, its loud, v loud and packed. Nice and relaxed at weekends.
Again this is one of those Pubs where you wonder why others miss the simplicity.
Simple non-fussy food that you can actually understand off the menu, good quality Beers...it recently was granted its Cask Marque standard on real ales and staff who actually say Thank you and mean it.
The downside is it gets rather busy on a Friday night when Id like to meet but hear others in my office.
The Din inside can be alarming but its not the music its just full of solicitors and media people all talking over each other.
I attended leaving drinks at the upstairs function recently as well and it is a lovely space.
Seemingly it is doing a fortune in "Leaving drinks"...a sign of the times but I suppose somebody must benefit!
pete the pint
....me again...I clicked the wrong star rating...its def a 5 out of 5 in the upstairs room.

I recently celebrated my birthday in the Upstairs Lounge room. Having tried to get a room in London and feeling very very frustrated with rip-off quotes...I found Elaine and the staff here really helpful in every way. Firstly..no charge and a minimum spend was really good. Plenty staff and they acted as if it was a party and my birthday which made me feel really good and I promised to write a review somewhere. Buffet food was really nice and plentiful. As it was my 40th, I really appreciated the ability to play our own Cheesey music and our own room. Thank you guys and I will recommend you to my friends who are approaching 40. This is a great function place.

This is a decent Pub and I tend not to go to the trouble of writing so. In the build up to Christmas I met a friend here on semi-business for lunch. I had a Classic burger and he had Scampi...both simple but I must say really good quality and served by someone who smiled. There were 4 Real Ales...all on. I had Bombadier (3 actually). Toilets were clean, music was on but not dominant and overall there was a sense of a Good Pub here.
This may be it!! I have watched this Pub/Bar being ripped apart a few times over the past ten years with various refurbs. I popped in with a few friends last Thursday night after hearing of change of ownership. I really liked the feel and warmth. The real ales were in good shape and we all indulged in a few in-house burgers which were tasty and well served. Music was so-so but overall I would say that this sleeping giant could be awakening. This is such a usy corner and it needs a good Pub...could this be it....I say yes on this visit. Well done
Unfortunately I found this venue a rather
dismal, dirty, mismanaged state of affairs
seemingly run by a false, smiling uninformed person.
In my opinion, the ales were off, lager was warm, poor selection of wine, and as for the food, the only saving grace.
Staff seemed more interested in having a cigarette than serving the few customers that where there. Ashtrays overflowed, dress code was non existent and glasses always left on tables. Steer clear if enjoy your beer.
The Yorkshire Grey has undergone another recent refurbishment but completely for the better. It gets a bit busy early in the evening (plenty of lawyers and office workers knocking about) but the efficient staff shouldn't keep you waiting too long. The Yorkshire Grey has mainly standard booze at the bar but the draught San Miguel is a visit alone and they do a range of (pretty pricey, to be fair) cocktails. I'd certainly recommend The Yorkshire Grey to anyone who lives or works in the area.
