Can we add Negative Star ratings please? Monday 4th July, 2011 - Walking into this cosy establishment yesterday evening after the Wimbledon finals, I was looking forward to a nice glass of wine and evening banter with my twin sister and our boyfriends, however upon placing our orders at the bar, the bar-lady asks to see her id (of course she was flattered however I'm not too sure how to take it yet given we are identical twins right down to the last freckle). Giggling we reveal our identical twin status. She seemed a bit perplexed at this term so we show both our uk driving licenses, same details just different name.'twins'. Taking our licenses she wonders off for a bit returning with the Duty Manager at her side who quickly proudly informs us that my dl is fake and he wont serve me! After a lot of laughs, we realised he wasn't joking to which I asked him what exactly about this license looks fake, knowing full well that of course it was real. He looks at me and says in his opinion because its not identical to my sister's license that it is fake. At this point I would like to point out that my sister recently re-issued her license last year upon completion of her motorbike license but then this is clearly mentioned on the back of the dl. Mine was still the 'old-ish model' but given we are 25, hardly old, I would like to think that a "duty Manager" in South Ken. Can at least recognise this not to be fake. Anyway to prove that it was not a fake, I pull out several other valid id cards including my uae Driving license, my bupa Medical id card, even my Gym membership! All of which the impressive Duty Manager doesn't even want to look at. At this point I realise that it must be another reason for this and one cannot reason with these kind of people. Its just sad that such an establishment is ruined by such kind of people. Suggestion to Management - train your staff
Should have known something was wrong when we got seats for 6 people on a Sunday lunchtime. Staff were friendly enough, drinks were good and quickly served. Food was not bad. Sunday lunch could have done with an extra vegetable but the point of this review is to highlight how disgusting the ladies toilet is. There was water everywhere due to a faulty toilet and it was generally dire especially negotiating a 3 year old around. Not good and in this area of London I expect a lot, lot better. GET IT FIXED........
Working locally and have a pint most nights in the "Zetters", great atmosphere, realistic prices and friendly staff only downfall is the downstairs gents lavatory which is dire.
I believe that the Zetland Arms maintains a warm, friendly, exciting and ambient atmosphere. It is a traditional pub, and definitive of its type.
Although the food is average, the drinks are fast, and the service good. Indeed one barmen greets me with, Eh Freddie Boy!, in a deep Italian accent whenever I enter the pub. I believe you need to frequent the pub to be fully integrated into the environment; if you treat the service with respect you will receive amiable treatment for the duration of your visit.
It is easy to lose yourself in conversation with complete strangers, and without making it sound like a swingers bar, The Zetland Arms is a great place to meet new people.
If you can become a regular, become a regular. Idyllic
I went to The Zetland Arms a few Sundays ago and the staff were awful. They were completely incompetent, didn't bring drinks over when they said they would and when I politely asked about them, I was shouted at! I saw them being rude to a few other customers too.
When I asked to speak to the manager I was ignored then given some stupid form instead.
One of the bar maids who I asked about our drinks just started having a go at me in front of a lot of other customers because I couldn't remember who had served me. I've worked in bars before and I have never ever spoken to anyone the way I got spoken to in The Zetland Arms.
We loved this Pub, everyone at the bar was just so nice and I can't wait to go back and visit. I do hope it will be soon..
